No they do not care about anything but getting the sale over the line. They can make any promise or claim, as long as they get the sale.
The problem with this attituide is that more people are researching their purchases before they step into a showroom. Most have already made up their minds on purchasing either one or 2 different brands. Getting some nub in the showroom treating them with contempt, is all to common and does the brand harm.
When I dropped the wifes JGC car off for service on Tuesday, I saw the sales guy that I had value my car as a trade on another new JGC (SRT8) for myself. Do you think that he has contacted me ?
It has only been 5 weeks since I got my car valued and another 2 days since I reminded him. Great to see how he treats a buyer of a $100k car. Needless to say I will most likely hold onto my car now as the desire to change has passed, mainly due to not getting the sales service I expect from a dealer I have already purchased a $80k from.

The guy that's handling mine actually seems pretty good. He's not one of the regular Jeep salesman, but works in the fleet and govt section at Tynans. The reason my sale is going through there is because I found out my employer's employee benefits program has a partnership with Tynans. There's 14000 employees here, so he doesnt want any bad press.

Anyway. The car is ordered, eta around 3 months, so I've setup my finances to be just in time and there will be minimal credit needed. Then I get a call saying there's one on a boat that will be here in 3 weeks. I found myself in the rearly weird position of saying that I'll pass and go with the original timeframe ... Bugger!

You make a good point. These days cars sell themselves they don't really need some pimply faced dude with a squeaky voice spinning lies. They (the sales people) are becoming somewhat redundant - all you really need is a valet style car lot attendant to dutifully have the right vehicle ready for a test drive,

These online fleet purchasers will continue to make headway into the market.

EDIT. PS SRT8 would be awesome.

I still haven't met the saleman I am purchasing from. Did it all over the phone and by email. Canvassed the Sydney dealers, and went for the lowest price.
Mind you, the fact the moron has screwed up the order, makes you wonder.
