I've seen his posts and understand, but in this instance FCA Aust has not provided enough detail with regards to this recall and the date range affected.

He was about to run off to his dealer. A quick google showed me the affected build dates. I thought it worth while to share.

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

Oh for sure, helpful it was, for some reason the affected range is not there.
But maybe him driving to dealer instead of calling would have been a lesson he needs to learn.
I feel sorry for his dealership, he is the type of customer that I would encourage to buy elsewhere when he wants another car.

Of course! One has to be built in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere. It has to do with which direction the metal flows into the casting.

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

Put my MY12 in to get the fuel pump recall done. It turns out I had two other recalls to be done as well. There was the EGR hose issue and an electrical issue with the sun visor. They did the fuel pump recall and the EGR hose one but didn't have the parts for the sun visor one which is strange since the sun visor recall has been listed for ages. So far so good but keeping fingers crossed that they didn't stuff something up. While putting the car in, I remembered I still had the Bluespark connected. I excused myself, went out and replaced the Bluespark with a blanking plug. All went well.

Hey Bob. Wondering about your Bluespark - happy with it? Could you post a few photos of it installed?

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

Bob, I have had 2 services and at each they schedule in the "sunvisor wiring" TSB.
At both, they told me that they do not have the parts.
They really are a joke.

Yeah, very happy. I've tried many power mods to cars in the past but got nothing but psychological improvement. With this, you feel it in the back, nothing psychological about it. I've tried many settings with so-so results but settled for C9 which is max torque. Not that the CRD needs more torque but it makes it more of a delight to drive. Turbo lag is reduced and it pulls like steam train. So far it hasn't thrown any codes. People using the high power settings have had codes. Tuning boxes work by fooling the CPU so any fuel consumption readouts can't be relied upon but based on distance travelled with a full tank, I haven't noticed any significant difference.

The first pic shows the unit stealthily snug in the black cloth baggy that comes with it. I've secured it to the wiring harness with a strip of Velcro tape. The cable runs behind that fuse box then because I have the one with turbo boost, it splits into two with a Y-junction. The cables are all in a black corrugated conduit. I have the two cables do one loop then to the top of the back of the engine where the relevant connection points are. The connection points are well explained by the instructions but a little awkward to reach and connect.

The unit does not come with a blanking plug. I bought one separately from Bluespark for a few bucks. It allows one to remove the box itself, insert the blacking plug into the end of the Bluespark cable and all is back to stock as far as the dealers' instruments are concerned.

It's probably a fiddly job and FCA are not offering the dealers enough to make it worth their while. The current sun visor bulbs are about as dim as an ailing firefly so I might replace them with LEDs. They draw far less current which may alleviate whatever the recall concern is anyway.

I swapped out all the internal lights bar the map light which is hardwired in. Vast improvement other than the two above the rear passenger doors which are still a bit dim for LEDs. Happy with the improved "luminosity"!

Got that kit Bob, went with the crystal white (6000k) option throughout. Great lights, however a little traumatic fitting them. The glove box light was a bitch to get out and replace and the two internal tailgate lights caused me some grief!!

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

I may have editorialised a little.

FCA Australia Pty Ltd—2014 - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee / 2012 - 2014 Chrysler 300

FCA Australia Pty Ltd—2014 - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee / 2012 - 2014 Chrysler 300
PRA number: 2016/15391
Date published: 22nd June 2016

Product description
2014 - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2012 - 2014 Chrysler 300

Identifying features
S27 (da fuk is this?)

What are the defects?
Drivers may inadvertently fail to engage the “PARK” position before exiting the vehicle, because they are careless and too busy sipping their late and texting.

If the engine is left running, the “PARK” position is not engaged and the “PARK BRAKE” is not applied prior to the driver exiting the vehicle after they have chosen to ignore the bloody annoying alarm sounds, the vehicle may roll away striking and injuring the driver, passenger or bystanders.

Overview of the electronic shift lever
The electronic shift lever (Figure A) in the affected vehicles does not move like a conventional T shifter (Figure B). The electronic shift lever is spring loaded and always returns to the same center position like a joystick after the desired gear is selected.

What are the hazards?
Drivers not paying attention to what condition they leave their car, and the vehicle may roll away striking and injuring the driver, passenger or bystanders.

Where the product was sold
Nationally

Traders who sold this product
Authorised Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealerships.

Supplier
FCA Australia Pty Ltd

What should consumers do?
FCA Australia will notify vehicle owners (really? I haven't received any for the last 5 recalls) who can take their vehicle to a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership whereby the vehicle will have work conducted to safe guard against the possibility that the vehicle is not properly put into the “PARK” position.

Other regulator reference numbers
S27. Ooooooh, it's a reference number, not an "Identifying feature"
