Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

A recall must be done when 3 cases are registered. 2 recorded cases = voluntary, 3 = mandatory. So all it takes is 3 cases to cause a recall.
Then you have the fun that has happened with Ford, Chevy and GM all ignoring cases and calculating the cost of covering deaths is far less than the cost of issuing a recall.

So this means that if the recall flash is never applied, it is possible you will never have this problem. However, if you do, well that would be a little scary.

I might even upgrade my MY12 to a MY14 so that I can get the fix and rest easy at night.

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

I've edited my posts from last night because more detail on the recall appears that it only affects build dates from Jan - April this year.

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

Other than the letter that is sent to owners - is there any other way to see what defects/recalls affect our vehicles?

About to pick a new Summit up, Dealer states there are no recalls showing on their system so was just after a way to check that things and done sooner rather than waiting until I may or may not receive a letter

Se my earlier post #17 about how to see all Aus Chrysler recalls.

Re: Product Safety Recalls Australia

I did see that thanks Snuke
But going on what the dealer is saying - he is looking at some system that logs the default/recall to the VIN of the car? Maybe I misunderstanding something here.
If I am correct Jeep would identify the VIN's of effected cars and then let the owners know by letter, when contacted by the owners the dealers would then be able to see on their systems what actually needed to be done

So the dealer maybe telling me the truth and there are no items on the car OR he either cant be bothered actually looking or he knows that they have not got the parts/software to do anything about it!

I was just wondering if, as a customer/owner we had access to a system where we could look and see what has/hasn't been done?

There is a jeep related website, type in your VIN, it will tells u whether there's recall on the car. I used it sometime last yr, bloody can't find the URL now.

My VIN reports the same as Carbontax - just the Brake Booster issue.

Just be aware, that when setting up an account it will not accept an Australian domain suffix ie. xxxx@xxxx.com.au (well it didn't for me anyway).

I ended up having to use my alternative gmail.com address.

No letter, but Suttons did the brake booster fix for me today, while they were replacing my DPF.
