There's a post somewhere that says the water does the same thing I think it is to do with the locks registering when the water hits the senses. PS I just did this using Siri hence the senses the spelling mistake.

When this happens, is the hose aimed at the door handles or just while hosing all over? I wonder if heavy rain would have the same effect.

Re: Quadra-Drive II Electronic LSD

Hose was aimed both at door handles as well as seperately at door and side indicator. With the pressure I was using, I would have thought rain would have the same effect.

Second try! Last Sunday we went on a 4x4 course. We went down an extremely steep rocky trail. The hill descent worked great in fact it was so slow in 1st I occasionally had to pop it into 2nd. No way you could do that in a manual. Then we had to go back up. The only manual in the group was a Defender with rear lockers and Goodyear Wrangler tyres. It spun tyres, rocks were flying and it slipped all over the place. It had to have a second go. The automatics, a Hilux, a Disco and our Jeep did it relatively easily. The instructor was particularly impressed how smoothly the Jeep went. Even with the Kumho all-seasons there wasn't a hint of traction loss. Now how much of that was due to QDII I can't say but I certainly have no complaints.

Re: Quadra-Drive II Electronic LSD

While we are on the subject of quirkiness, whenever I hit a really big bump like a washout, I get one wipe of the wipers. I figure it might be because the rain sensor sees trees then sky then trees again in a split second and misconstrues it for rain drops. Does anyone else get this?

A hose has a heap more water volume than rain. Mine flashes all the time when I have the fob in my pocket and I wash the car.

Thanks for the input guys.
So I guess the Grand Cherokee wasn't just pleased to see me after all.

Our Audi sometimes does this in the same place and we cant figure out why. For those familiar with General Holmes drive on southern side of Sydney airport, southbound as we go over the top of the Foreshore Road overpass it might do a sweep. It's usually in the afternoon. so it might be something to do with position of the sun.
