Quadra Lift gas recharge

Anyone worked out how to recharge the system without the dealer?

Mine had a leak after they done the fuel pump relay recall. and moved the airline bundle stressing the fitting.
Would try to get the dealer to do it but thats a 1200km round trip. Just needs some more gas, works fine in all modes except ORII hight. Just can't get there.

Its a nitrogen filled system id leave it to them especially since they broke it they will fix on their nickel i hear ya though that is a long trip. There was a guy on here that cut a line by mistake on it and they charged like $800 for the plastic tube and a recharge, expensive system.

Thats what worries me, it is out of warranty and I would have a shit fight to convince them they are the cause of the problem.
Cant see it been more complex to recharge as a zircon unit.
Need to find a way to get gas into the accumulator behind the rear seat.

You've probably been there already - but this from WK2 Jeeps………Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Quadra-Lift Air Suspension system

"Refilling the System
If the air suspension system is fully depleted of air it can be refilled using a scan tool and Air Suspension Refill Tool - 10247 which is used with a nitrogen supply tank (can be acquired at a local gas supplier). The nitrogen must be Purity Class 5 (99.999% pure). The size and volume of the nitrogen supply tank will determine how many air suspension systems can be filled."

You'll notice on this page that there is a warning that pressures can be up to 220psig in the system. Whether that is the reservoir pressure or compressor internal would be difficult to say.

I did read ages ago somewhere that the connection to the tank was special - someone had an issue and their dealer wasn't able to connect to the tank.
Its not hard to get the cover off and have a look though.

What about posting your question on the US side of the forum? - might attract a bit more useful info.
Good luck
John

I think we (Australians) tend to be more resourceful and not rely on the dealers all the time.

Re: Quadra Lift gas recharge

Just reviving this thread...I can't imagine a novice filling the nitrogen tank and setting the system. I just went through all this with my independent mechanic who has 30 year experience (including previous air suspension experience on Land Rovers) and now works exclusively on Jeeps. He had not worked on the Daimler/Chrysler air suspension that is in our WK2s but diligently researched it and worked with a local Chrysler dealer on my repair. Working on our air suspensions does require special tools AND special software for your computer. My mechanic actually had to borrow the tool and software initially from the dealer and it was 1 gen old so had some bugs in it. Because my pump had ruptured when he had to refill the system he said the refill and rebalance sequence is extremely complex and you have to go step by step though the computer sequence adding or removing air from the tank to get the balance right. While I'm sure an extremely handy novice could accomplish this I would not recommend it based on what he said. The air suspension on our Jeeps is one of the most complicated systems on the vehicle.
