What does "parkview" actually refer to?
Does it refer to an image of certain quality?
Does it refer to anything?
Is it simply a name?
If it was called crapview, does that mean if we get a good quality image we are being taken for a ride?

Sorry to play devil's advocate, buy this is what Jeep will argue. Best you be prepared for it.

Just the marketing name for their rear view camera.

Re: Rear safety camera

Yeah, but similar to a term like Quadratrack, it implies a standard which should apply when the term is used. I mean they'd never get away with "oh, didn't you know... the Laredo comes with the Australian Quadratrack..."

Re: Rear safety camera

I am sure DaimlerChrysler Corp would be very impressed with Jeep Australia selling junk cameras under their tradename. *NOT*
Problem is the cars are built without a camera and sold to Jeep Aust as such. In turn, Jeep Aust have decided to offer a Rear Cam package to build sales, and they are doing it at the cheapest cost possible.
Where they have come unstuck is, they have flogged this junk as a quality product, i.e. Parkview, and advertised Parkview's quality, which is evident the product installed does not compare to.
MY11-MY13 Laredo's do not suffer from this issue because at that time they offered a better quality camera, but the MY14's do have the issue. A good way to demonstrate is to get a MY13 and a MY14 side by side, and compare the performance of each cam in the same situation.
The trick to taking the matter to a Tribunal is to be objective by referring to your own installation, and using other's experience as supporting evidence only. This is how Bungendore managed to be successful in the case of the Navigation system.

Re: Rear safety camera

MY14 Rear Camera;

Just cranking up on my submission to Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Have now got a lot of supportive evidence for the claim against Jeep Aust

One piece of evidence I need to provide is photographic evidence of the quality of the MY11/12/13 Grand Cherokee Laredo's rear camera compared against the current MY14 Grand Cherokee Laredo camera in terms of picture quality and resolution in a number of situations.

Therefore my request is for a MELBOURNE based owner of a MY11/12/13 Grand Cherokee Laredo to contact me for a photo shoot of the relative rear camera's quality.

If any are willing to help me in this please Private Message (PM) me on this and we can exchange details for the shoot.

I am willing to travel to most parts of Melbourne for it.
I live in Cheltenham

Ideally the photos should be shot in bright sunlight, dull daytime, dusk and night time periods. So people knowing Melbourne all those conditions would happen here in a relativel short space of time in a day.

I now have documented evidence that Jeep Aust MY11/12/13 Laredos were supplied with both wiring looms and the camera by a Melbourne company.

They also said that for the MY14 Laredos they only supply the wiring looms and NOT the camera. That is supplied by Jeep Aust.

So the final bit of evidence I need is the make and technical qualityof the substandard rear camera supplied by Jeep Aust for the MY14 Laredo.

Any help with the two abovementioned requests please contact me.

Thanks for that

Bluey

I think the main thing with the ParkView names is it specifies "dynamic grid lines" which these cameras don't have.....
But ParkView is a "system" not one single thing I believe

Re: Rear safety camera

I received my Reverse camera in the mail today. I purchased the Vehicle in Sydney but had the dealer send it to me so I could have my local dealer fit it. It has only taken 4 months, purchased the vehicle on the 28th January.

It is hardly Chrysler "Parkview" when you see that the bracket is clearly marked for a Kia!!!

I was planning to fit a better Camera once installed. But I am considering taking on JA as well. This is just not good enough they need to redirect some of the money from the marketing program to other areas of their business !!

The bracket is Kia

But i agree less money from JA in giving sports people and others cars to drive and more support to their paying customers would be a great start

Thanks Lewy2001 for posting those pics. Useless dealer couldn't supply me a part number for the camera, but can see it there on yours.

Any chance of taking a shot of the installation instructions, only if they are one page.
