Re: Rear safety camera

I asked the parts dept if i could upgrade the laredo camera to a limited camera and the foreman doesnt think it will fit?

Anyone know for a fact that a limted camera would work with the laredo harness?

Also, is the laredo harness the standard jeep harness or some cheap knock up for the camera?

I believe it is different... see my post (including pic on page 17) and then look at the plug on this eBay link

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Tail Gate WK Light BAR W Back UP Camera 1WD55JRPAG | eBay

Also have a look at this post - this person has fitted a limited camera to his Laredo but looks like the power connection is wired incorrectly

Installation of OEM Camera in 2014 Laredo

Also you can work out the correct part based on you colour code... as an example my billet laredo uses code 1WD55JSCAI with (SCA being the colour code for Billet)

Hi archcat74

Had my Laredo down at Burg Design in Melbourne (parksafe.com.au) today to have the crappy camera inspected and a suitable replacement installed.

The guys were great and I now have a very usable CCD camera.

The loom you mentioned is used to run the number plate lights.

Mine was not connected, so for the past couple of months I have been driving around with no lights and could have been hit with a $350 fine, nice one.

Mark at Burg Design said it was most likely disconnected when the crappy camera was installed to stop the reflection.

Cheers all, and check your number plate lights !

Re: Rear safety camera

Pics of your screen in action, the camera now and a cost would be helpful to those in need.

Thanks Harada this is handy to know but it would be much better if you could tell us which of their cameras was fitted to your Laredo along with the cost. In my case I'm in central west NSW so would need to obtain and have fitted locally. And do you now have any static lines in the view ?

Looks like my post was a bit premature.

The CCD camera is substantially better in the day and low light, but is no good at night.

I was just in my friends MY13 Laredo and the night image is very good and clear up to at least 6-7 metres behind the car.

As I said in an earlier post, they are doing R&D on a camera, and as I provided them with a car to "experiment" on, they gave me the camera at a very reduced rate.

I will be contacting Burg Designs about this, as it is not yet the "total" solution I and everyone else is looking for.

Let us know how you get on with Burg. I'm keen to upgrade or replace once the car arrives given the dealer doesn't seem to have a solution. Thanks.

Re: Rear safety camera

First post here so go easy on me.....

wiring these cameras are pretty straight forward. am happy to give a walk thru if you can supply images of pins..

There is NO need to remove interior panels to run the wire.. Aprox fitment and program time is around 1-1.5 hours.

'new' camera that is being fitted to WK's without factory cameras. guidance lines are not part of the reprograming, or an option I have been able to find at this stage and may very well be limited to Factory fitment cameras.
new rear garnish(ALL are white, 'undercover/body' is replaced with your factory garnish):

Questions? Shoot me an inbox.

Rear safety camera

In googling for possible answers to the rearview camera I came across this US based outfit. Their solution is something I'm sure Jeep could emulate and the camera also has static lines.

CRUX Interfacing Solutions ::: RVCCH-75C

As to having to program the static lines - don't know if it's software or hardware that provides this however many rearview camera's have lines as standard.
JA have also been in touch with me again claiming they should have a solution for my complaint. I suspect that may be what LoveToLaunch has shown us. And whilst the image shows better dynamic range there still appears to be some distortion that having static lines would help ovecome.
