Re: Rear safety camera

I suspect some dealers may be installing cheap Chinese made cameras. I would suggest you check the source of your cam.

That is likely to be the case.

Mine is superb on the limited, factory fitted - day or night.

Re: Rear safety camera

Just got my camera installed yesterday by the dealer after a wait of three months. The video is OK however, there are no "guidance" lines on the screen. Makes it hard to judge distances in the 'fish eye' lens view. Are these cameras meant to have lines overlaid?

Re: Rear safety camera

Mine does have guidance lines but they are not centred. This is a pain more than anything but useful for distances when getting close. (Not for lining yourself up for a park though)
Was installed about a month ago.
They are static lines in three colours.

Re: Rear safety camera

Was told by the dealer last week that Im on the Camera waiting list....also told that the camera Im getting is the one recommended by Jeep that all dealers use...hence the shortage.

Do we know who supplies this camera everyone is waiting on? is it Mopar or another source?

Mine was fitted today by the dealer (MY14 Laredo).

I was used to my Pajero camera which was excellent in terms of quality.

This one just seems very grainy and not particulalry clear. Sort of like a webcam picture from 15 years ago. I guess it will do but thought I'd resurrect the thread to see if other MY14 Laredo owners who have had a camera fitted think the quality is ok.

Cheers
Andrew
Hi, I have had a camera fitted to my MY14 Laredo last week and have an acceptable image during the day, but very overexposed at night. I also have a problem with the guide markers being out of alignment to the right by about 300mm? on the ground and clearly of centre on the screen. So far, the dealer has no answer for this problem??

Re: Rear safety camera

The rear view cam on my14 overland is on the money, love the moving gird lines. How ever i have nothing to compare it to.

It looks even better if you keep a small wetnap, handiwipe, glass cleaner to remove road crud from it every now and then.

You might notice it losing contrast before it gets gunked up enough to cause blotches on the screen.

Yes they should have guide line. Take that piece of junk back and demand a genuine Jeep camera.
