Re: Rear safety camera

Contacted Jeep Australia today and they have advised that they are aware of the camera issues but the existing camera is still current.

"LoveToLaunch" do you have further details and part numbers, jeep dealer that processed the change of camera.

Rear safety camera

[QUOTE=s20man;1048067]Contacted Jeep Australia today and they have advised that they are aware of the camera issues but the existing camera is still current.

Jeep rang me today to say they have a revised camera becoming available that should fix my issue and be with my dealer "hopefully in about a month." The CSO had no technical details or other information such as grid lines etc on the camera other than to say "a revised camera".

This is probably the same Jeep CSO that told "hymer" they haven't had other complaints so this doesn't lend much credence to what s20man has been told.

Notwithstanding the above at least JA appear to be doing something. But whether it approaches the quality and promise of a Parkview rear camera is another thing.

Re: Rear safety camera

The only problem with that statement from Jeep Australia is the timeframe "in about a month"
Generally speaking, Jeep Australia uses a timeframe of "2 weeks" which equivalents to a timeframe between 3 months - 2 years.
Now if they are saying "about a month", then presumably that would equivalent to sometime between 1 year - 10 years.
Don't hold your breath.

Jeep Aust/Chrysler Group LLC has put their heads in the sand and ignored reasoned complaints.

As well as submissions to three States Consumer Affairs/Fair Trading jurisdictions, I have started an on-line Petition to apply some more pressure for Jeep Australia to do the right thing.

Folks, if you can open up this Petition below and sign it (ie fill in the details) I would be grateful.

I hope to obtain more than 2,000 signatures for it. The signatorees do not necessarily have to be Jeep owners so could you pass this around and get all and sundry to sign it.

We will see where it goes. Thanks all.

Just shows the Left Hand doesnt know what the Right Hand is doing or saying in Jeep Australia organisation.

I have information from a jeep mechanic in NSW that shows Jeep Australia are fitting a NEW camera system to their MY14 Laredo's.
AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM - AJOR - View Single Post - new grand cherokee laredo

This may/WILL lead to a retrofit of all supplied camera kits for the MY14 Laredo.

Note the improved vision and the fascia camera profile of the new kits. Still has the fisheye but I can live with that so long as its a clear view.

There is NO need to remove interior panels to run the wire.. Aprox fitment and program time is around 1-1.5 hours.

'new' camera that is being fitted to WK's without factory cameras. guidance lines are not part of the reprograming, or an option I have been able to find at this stage and may very well be limited to Factory fitment cameras.
new rear garnish(ALL are white, 'undercover/body' is replaced with your factory garnish):

Questions? Shoot me an inbox.
Made contact with Jeep again today and they have advised that new Laredo's now "do" come with a different camera but as mine is the older model (5 week old MY2014) my vehicle does not come with the new camera. I then went into a dealer with the following two codes;

New Camera - 1WD55GW7AH

New Wiring kit - AUSWKKL2014WL

Both codes come up in the system and they already have stock of the wiring kit. The dealer is going to put forward that Jeep consider fitting the new camera to resolve my issue.

Note: my primary concern is not the quality (but I agree the limited camera would be ideal) the primary concern is the mounting bracket allows the camera to be pushed into the vehicle when people lift the tailgate.

Rear safety camera

My 2 bobs worth - if you have an issue with the camera fitted to your MY2014 Laredo then you need to complain to JA stating your reasons for doing so. And not in short hand. Detail is needed. I used an email addressed to tp409@chrysler.com and then followed up a week later with a call to the 1300 number.
I was issued a case number and then had no contact from JA unless I followed up, which I did. I also explained that I was going to lodge a complaint via the Dept of Fair Trading and it was when things heated up that suddenly JA began calling me.
They are now going to fit, free of charge, one of the "new" revised camera's to my Laredo.
My submission to the DoFT is a work in progress and ready to go at any time and especially if JA do not provide the advertised features of their Parkview rear camera.
Here's a scenario - say 500 MY2014 Laredo's were sold and provided with the crap camera. But only 50 owners complain. And of those only 5 were serious enough to go the distance. If a decent camera costs $250 + install then JA are only up for $1250 +. Why would they willingly spend $12,500 on 50 complainants when 45 of them aren't going to stir the pot.
And using the same analogy I cannot see JA offering to retro fit all Laredo's.
So the message is - if you aren't happy - do something and seriously lodge a complaint and stand up for your rights.

Could you please provide the 'details' that you included in your email and the full 1300 number?
where did you get the email address from?
did you complain to your dealer first as has been suggested previously?
thanks in advance
