My 2 bobs worth - if you have an issue with the camera fitted to your MY2014 Laredo then you need to complain to JA stating your reasons for doing so. And not in short hand. Detail is needed. I used an email addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org
and then followed up a week later with a call to the 1300 number.
I was issued a case number and then had no contact from JA unless I followed up, which I did. I also explained that I was going to lodge a complaint via the Dept of Fair Trading and it was when things heated up that suddenly JA began calling me.
They are now going to fit, free of charge, one of the "new" revised camera's to my Laredo.
My submission to the DoFT is a work in progress and ready to go at any time and especially if JA do not provide the advertised features of their Parkview rear camera.
Here's a scenario - say 500 MY2014 Laredo's were sold and provided with the crap camera. But only 50 owners complain. And of those only 5 were serious enough to go the distance. If a decent camera costs $250 + install then JA are only up for $1250 +. Why would they willingly spend $12,500 on 50 complainants when 45 of them aren't going to stir the pot.
And using the same analogy I cannot see JA offering to retro fit all Laredo's.
So the message is - if you aren't happy - do something and seriously lodge a complaint and stand up for your rights.
