Good one Bluey, your big red fire truck is now complete and you'll live happily everafter.

My bitchin continues. Been in contact for a couple of weeks with Jeep Customer Service. Been dealing with one guy. Tells me today, "That's the camera that comes with the car (crap camera) and we won't replace it."

I then ask for a case number and name of the person who has refused my claim. He couldn't give me either!!! Prick had been stringing me along!!
I now have a case number and he will be in contact with me tomorrow with an actual answer.

Re: Rear safety camera

Got a 100% better picture, not whinging about the lack of guidelines. Cant see a great advantage in them.
Concentrating on the fact that Jeep Aust have indirectly admitted they got it wrong in the first place and are installing them on the new MY14 Laredo's.
Doesnt help the 12 months of Laredo deliveries, many many hundreds of them.
Have just gone out and taken night time photos of the rear camera, not complaining now.
Have a look and see if can spot the odd one out.

Also got mine fitted last Friday at my local Jeep dealer after writing a letter to Jeep and the dealer.

Happy days now!

Re: Rear safety camera

Ok, great news. I'm glad you had success Bluey, you deserve it.

But now my campaign starts.

Any suggestions who I should be contacting to try to get a decent camera- the existing one is sh1t especially at night.
Not acceptable. Not fit for purpose.

My dealer have their head in the sand, won't admit there is a problem at all.
(And of course in daylight, when I visit the dealer, it is not so noticeable.)

Who do you contact in Jeep Australia?

Any suggestions very much appreciated.
Thanks
David

Re: Rear safety camera

I am sure that if you turned up at the dealership and the camera was not working... for whatever reason, it would be changed over to the newer model, under warranty.
So, I guess you wait until it stops working.

A wild statement if ever I heard one.
Actual cost in parts would be less than $50.

I think Narellan Jeep has some cross bred dogs on their sales staff because.................

Confucius say if a bulldog and a Shitsu are mated, it would be called a Bullshit.

BS, was quoted to me by Frankston Jeep (sob, sob) that they carried the $300 tag to give me the MY14 Update camera kit. They also (so they said) had to re-run the cable from the tailgate to the head unit even though it was already run. Maybe a different cable for the retro fit.

Tell them(Narellan Jeep) to give me a call BS and run that story by me.

Bluey

Bluey

I think it is a different cable. My dealer has the camera but is waiting delivery for the loom. That is next month. So plausible.

Re: Rear safety camera

I sent through my complaint letter yesterday via an email address attached to the Jeep Facebook page - because funnily enough, they have no contact info at all on their web page.

Anyway, I got a call from a nice girl from Chrysler Aust stating she received my email and wanted to get some more info from me. She went on to say that they are aware of the issue and that they are investigating a more permanent fix for the future. She said they would be offering previous customers the chance to get theirs replaced when a fix is arranged. I won't hold my breath, but at least they are doing something about it now...

Re: Rear safety camera

Can anyone who has recently bought or taken delivery of a Laredo or Blackhawk tell me if they got or are getting the new camera and loom?

I am placing an order in the next couple of weeks and will ensure that the new camera and loom are in the contract.

Thanks

I picked up my Laredo last Friday here in Melbourne. The dealer has the new camera, however they are awaiting the arrival of the loom, which is different to the one fitted with the old camera. It's supposed to be here some time this month.
