Was installed about a month ago.
They are static lines in three colours.
I've got no lines on my Laredo... and the image is blury. It's the only thing letting the car down. I just don't look at the screen now. Will get on the blower to Jeep Customer Care.

Twscoot, seen that name around the traps.

Re: Rear safety camera

Does anyone have a 'laggy' image on the backup camera display? Its almost as if the video is skipping frames. I noticed this starting after I updated to version 13.38.52

I am also completely disappointed with the image quality. Im coming from a 2011 Limited that had far superior video quality. I will press my dealer to see if they installed a cheap one on me

Re: Rear safety camera

Seriously guys, you can purchase a decent camera from China for a couple bucks and replace it yourself. You can get one that looks close to stock factory kind with better image quality... It is very simple and only a few wires.

The aftermarket kind the dealer fitted is no different to those from China - The better ones from china will use a certain type of chipset which mind you is very cheap but gives really good picture, even in the night.

Once I have more info from my supplier I will post more details of what you should buy.

It is hardly worth complaining to the dealer, they just fit the damn thing. From what I've heard which is nothing new, dealers order from China the cheapest chipset sensors for their camera's for profit reasons.

Below is the email extract from a China vendor who I deal with and are reliable.

Hi,

The following is the price of different chipset:

The price of PC-1030 is $10. PC-3030 is $12. MT9V136 is $15 and PC-1089 is $16. - excluding shipment.

The different of them is the resolution rate. The PC-1089 is highest resolution. But All of them have good quality.

Re: Rear safety camera

Would you be able to find if the contact has a similar Camera/Number Plate Light Lens arrangement for a Dodge Nitro? I'm trying to find other Chrysler|Jeep|Dodge models which share the same lens dimensions.

This is what it looks like:

Nah, My jeep is the Limited with factory camera.

I have that PC1089 fitted in my XR6, fitted myself with an LCD rear view mirror. Bloody clear and vibrant colour even when dark.

Pic below was taken at night. But its crystal clear during day light.
