Does anyone know if the new cameras being retrofitted now are the new mopar ones?
So are these "after market/Genuine" units displaying gridlines?

Re: Rear safety camera

The dealership said it was a Genuine part same as current Laredo,/ limited ? just tested mine at night time, it's much better than previous tried putting other lights on to see if it would flood it and it was perfect, no grid lines, fitment looks factory not like previous

Do you have any paperwork for this change?

Rear safety camera

When you pay a premium price for your Jeep can't understand why they can't put in the same camera as my 2012 which had the lines on it would stop my wife giving me heart ache. over it.
Is the price that extreme
This is on the Blackhawk everything else is spot on.

The original camera fitted to my MY14 Laredo was cheap and nasty rubbish.
I made many complaints, until eventually they very generously offered to fit a better one, which was a welcome improvement over the original rubbish, but NOT what I would call a huge improvement. Whilst it was much better at night (went from completely useless to barely acceptable), it was not really much better in daylight than the original. I reckon you'd get a significantly better camera for $20 from Hong Kong.

Whenever I get in my mates Holden Caprice, and select reverse, it's like the image from a high res SLR camera, both night and day, cheese and chalk compared to mine on the Jeep.

But I'm sure Jeep Aust saved a few dollars by going for cheap rubbish, !
Very disappointing, not the best feature on my JGC.

I am cursed by the Jeep Customer Services gods (if one exists).

After an 18month battle with Jeep Aus they finally agreed to replace the rear camera with the newer moulded one.

Organised to have it fitted today after 12pm, was told it is a 3hr job. This was at my purchasing dealer, Heartland Chullora.
Had to have a meeting with someone so organised to have it whilst car was getting done. Meeting finished at 3pm. Told car is now ready at 3.05pm.

WTF! Look at the rear end and still old camera. The monkeys have taken 3 hours to "reallign" it and not replaced it.

They are now in a made rush to install it.

They got it done in a hour, with 3 monkeys working on it at once.

Camera is a definite improvement at night.

Re: Rear safety camera

I have been complaining to my dealer about my Camera. It continually is pushed in by people thinking it is the rear door release. They are able to rotate the cheap camera in the even cheaper mounting bracket. Dealer has corrected twice but say they were unable to replace with the new retrofitted camera without direction from head office.

Dealer advised to take it up with Jeep Assist. It took two phone calls to finally get a callback. The contact at Jeep Assist advised there was a upcoming program to replace all the cheap original after market cameras fitted to the Laredo's.

Maybe they are listening

Re: Rear safety camera

I know why you guys are having trouble at the dealerships.
I bet none of you are taking a bunch of bananas with you when you book the car in.
Try it. I believe a bag of peanuts will also work if it is an established dealership and has factory trained technicians. You will be able to identify them by the colouring in books in the lube bay.

Re: Rear safety camera

Stick with it men. They had 6 months of harassment from me. I even got banned from the Jeep Facebook page. As most long term members here will attest, persistence pays off. I got my upgrade 12 months ago after running Fiat/ Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/RAM /Alfa etc into the ground.
Its not a new issue!!!
