Have any Aussie Laredo owners that got their camera replaced been successful in activating the active gridlines.

I know the Yanks have.

You mean the ones that have fitted the kit? p/n: 82213884AB

There's someone who did 3 x 15min youtube videos on fitting this kit. Refernced on a USA thread in here somewhere.

The Dynamic Gridlines are on that kit by default, and i guess it's hooked up to t he BUS system as it has a harness not just camera and RCA leads.

In the EVIC on one of the 4wd "displays" the little animated wheel thingys show the front wheel steer angles so I guess steering angle sensor are already there and the same signal is used to move the gridlines on the Parkview.

If JA are actually fitting the real Parkview camera to the BUS using the full proper harness then, yes.

Hymer (Rob) doesn't seem to have the gridlines on his replacement so I assume it was disabled or not fully connected in the BUS system.

How are "people" getting a replacement? ( short of going down the pioneering route like Hymer with a change.org petition going). That even made a auto news website.

Write to the dealer with "concerns" and copy to JA customer service? or higher up the food chain.

New "Parkview" cameras are coming from JA and not sourced by the dealers/ service centres right?

Any more news on this?

Just wanted to know before pulling my car apart. Us having export versions and the yanks having more extras on their Uconnect, I'm thinking things are probably gong to be different.

I'll watch those YouTube vids in the mirror, might make it relevant.

As far as getting your camera replaced, the dealer won't help. You have to apply to Jeep HQ via their customer service line. Then argue with them for 18 months.

Re: Rear safety camera

My camera was replaced after I took it up with the dealer, I didn't have to hassle Jeep Aust.

Cheers, Simon

Re: Rear safety camera

Same here. I was pretty forthright with them and supported my case with photos. It took a few days to get approval for the change, but it was all done through the dealer.

Re: Rear safety camera

Went in today for the 20k service. Although they didn't replace my camera because they were still waiting on Jeeps approval, the service manager came around afterwards as I was picking up the car and showed be a dealer bulletin authorising replacement of all early Laredo cameras to the new one. There was even a picture of the old mounting vs the new one. Apparently Jeep Aus will send me a letter to that effect. Will have to bring it in again later to get the new camera fitted.

Re: Rear safety camera

Root me boot... they "are always keen to receive customer feedback". Two years later, they respond.

Awesome performance guys.

Re: Rear safety camera

Yep that's the one.

It's good to see the replacement camera will have guidelines!

One thing I noticed was that the crappy camera is set further back than the genuine housing so it captures a lot of light from the number plate lights. The new housing sits further outwards so will have the light coming from behind it.

Re: Rear safety camera

So if you've already fought hard and had your camera replaced... do you miss out on the guide-lines?
