I tried running a jump wire from 4 to 27, I didn't bury it in the car but ran it outside to test and it didn't work
Not sure about why those wires are joined! I can check on my wiring if you like, but that won't be tonight...
One suggestion: Make really
sure that your jumper wire is electrically connected. When I plugged things together for the first time, I thought that everything was connected and then discovered that the pins in the I5010 connector were very well protected & deep. That's why I used a paperclip arm soldered onto the wire - and had to push the paperclip all the way in before they electrically joined. And then, I got my multimeter on it to double check!

EDIT: Just looked at your picture in more detail. Is this what the dealer did in fitting your newcam? Very 'professional'! FWIW, the male end of your connector (going to wiring loom in vehicle) looks the same as mine, the spaghetti you have on the newcam side is very different.
