Re: Rear safety camera

I've got a my15 with the new camera, no grid lines and the option in uconnect to turn them on. Was going to do the wiring mod in this thread but it looks like some of you guys have the same Setup as me and just requesting the grid lines and FCA are approving the harness upgrade. I never got a letter from FCA so should I just ask the dealer for the upgrade?

Kizz, It can't hurt, my dealer is doing just that with my 1/14 build, they are aware of the letter so I put some pressure on them saying through some Jeep forums Laredo owners are getting the new camera with grid lines done here in Aust.
I have the newer camera fitted (r/h one in letter) and i've complained from day one. I've not been nasty, just keep letting them know it's "not fit for purpose"

I have the later camera, (originally had the CrapCam), have the box tick option on UConnect, but no grid lines. My replacement camera is still pretty poor, though way better than the original.
I very much doubt I'd have ANY chance of getting a wiring harness upgrade. I reckon about two chances in fact, buckleys and none!

I may try doing my own by running the extra wire at some stage.

However, if you have any luck, please let us know (don't like your chances at all.)

Cheers
David

I had mine about the same time, they have change out the wiring loom but camera is the same, does seem clearer and now with the lines.

I had a letter quoting lines, which is how I think I got mine over the line. And they did say I was a VIP customer so they looked after me?

Sooo what are you trying to say? I thought we were ALL VIP customers! Clearly I'm just a customer!

If you really we're a proper VIP customer then surely Clyde Campbell would have given you one for free - not the camera - the whole car

I think what they mean is I have brought the car from, quite a few accessories, services there and brought them some additional business.

Ahh yes, but treat me like a VIP and I may purchase said accessories, use services, be a repeat client and recommend all my friends. Treat me like another punter and I will let my feet do the walkin' whilst doing a lot of talkin' (to whom so ever will listen)!

Re: Rear safety camera

I know all Laredo sold in Queensland are getting free OEM Cameras and it depends on what they told you the specs were when you bought the car

I just bought the activation off someone in ebay. Here is the link Jeep Chrysler Dodge Uconnect 8 4 Genuine Navigation Activation | eBay
I was skeptical at first but the whole process was completed under 10mins and the instruction was clear. I never knew our car had inbuilt GPS & Sat Nav, only that Chrysler decided to deactivate it for us to pay more post purchase price.
Interestingly, I have been to 5 dealerships around Brisbane and 3 service centres with a hope of getting this done, but they all told me 'It cannot be done, your radio doesn't support it' and my most classic answer was 'we have to change your headunit which will cost around $1800 minus workmanship'
I bough this for $520, it was $500 last week but I couldn't get myself to buy it because I thought it was all these scammers till it all sold out and its now re-listed for $520. He said he can activate Nav on any Chrysler Product with the 8.4 screen from 2014 on-wards. Will buy this for my 14 Cherokee as soon as I recover financially from this purchase.
Nice find mate. I'm sure as word gets out about this, it will become a hack similar to the wiring hack earlier in this thread

Re the reverse camera replacement, called FCA customer care and they told me the letters are going out in batches, told them my build date and he said I should receive one and to call back in a months time if I don't and they could work it out. Will post back here with updates!
