I would say the loom, I had the camera but to get everything working correctly they had to replace the look.

I had been reading this thread with interest as our Laredo (July 14 delivery) had the new style camera installed but no active lines even though the u connect grid lines option was ticked. We had received the letter about replacement cameras but concluded that we could not get an upgrade (as we already had the newer version). Anyway, at our 12 month service today I decided to ask if it was possible to have the active lines activated on our camera. I was delighted to find them working when I collected the car this afternoon. If anyone is in the same situation I recommend you make the request at your next service.

Re: Rear safety camera

I have just had my camera upgraded from an after-market dealer cam to the Jeep cam. The day picture is about the same but hopefully the night picture is better. I will post comparison pictures in the next day or 2.

The active grid lines are displayed but there is no option to disable it. Maybe they have a different software update for these new Laredo cams ?

That's great that your camera has been upgraded. Strange about the lack of an on/off option for the grid lines... We have uconnect version 14.25.5 and the option has always been there ( i think under safety and driver assistance?) We always had it ticked on but it only started working after we asked the dealer to activate the grid lines at our last service. Are you running 14.25.5? Cheers.

All done Chief

Have gridlines I can turn on/off. Camera seems brighter & not jerky on reversing. Day & Night time appear to be heaps better? It's made a big difference to "depth of field" perception and backing up, i've never had active lines before but dead easy to adjust to.

He did say part of this loom went right through to the main fuse box under the bonnet.

The other biggie was my service guy ran the cable for the Blackvue Rear camera at the same time.

I guess it helps living in a smaller community as I've helped them out of trouble on numerous occasions.

With the red lines showing against the base of the door I have about 350mm between the GC & Door. enough to lift the tail gate and walk behind.

Did I mention I'm Happy

Re: Rear safety camera

The new camera is much better at night than my after-market dealer fitted camera. Daytime has also slightly improved. I will check with the dealer about the lack of grid-line settings. I do have uConnect 14.25.5

Note the improvement from old to new.

Great results! The gridlines are a really good addition aren't they ... and your new cams certainly look like an improvement over the originals. Hope you can get that settings option sorted by your dealer mozzie.

We had one other issue which was that our camera was also slightly off centre in the lift gate housing. The dealer said it was not possible to adjust the camera position but after reading up on how to pull the rear hatch apart on this forum I was able to access the camera, straighten it and re tighten the screws. Solved! It wasn't that hard to do and now I'm100% happy! Cheers.

Re: Rear safety camera

I did not get a letter about camera upgrade, but will ask the dealer to check why my UConnect function to enable grid lines does not work and ask them to fix it. I have the option in the menu which does nothing.

Hopefully they come to the party and fit the required loom to enable gridlines

Hope your dealer looks after you. Sounds like your situation is the same as ours was. We did receive the letter but I threw it out when I saw that our camera didn't qualify for the upgrade. I'm not sure what the dealer needed to do to activate the lines for us but the service was done pretty quickly so maybe its not such a big deal with the newer style camera. Good luck!
