It's a whole new loom, quite a job.

I never received a letter either, but I showed my salesman (who was disgusted at my first camera) a copy of the from a member here. He checked up and got back to me saying it was organised. two weeks later I got the call.

So Ask, mention others are getting it done.

I also did not have the camera in the picture. I had a dealer arranged after-market camera that was OK by day and average by night (see my post 560). As FCA have sent you a letter, you are entitled to the JEEP camera.

Re: Rear safety camera

For reference to others here's my camera, this is the newest camera and the dealers says I'm not eligible for the upgrade, therefore no wires for the reverse guide lines -

From memory, mines a 10/14 build making it a MY15.

Re: Rear safety camera

My dealer told me I was ineligible too, so I rang Jeep Australia and had approval within hours.

Our newer style camera was installed in July 2014. Its just like yours ... not eligible for a camera upgrade. However when I asked, our dealer did activate the guidelines for this camera at the last service. Maybe they installed the new loom but i would be surprised if that was the case as the service was not a long one. Worth following up with your dealer or getting a second opinion perhaps.

I think some dealers have twigged that they only need to run that one wire to activate grid lines instead of a whole new loom.

If you don't have the gridlines they are not that great. I'd actually prefer gridlines that didn't move.

I drove a new Ford Territory and it had fixed and moving lines which I found better.

Re: Rear safety camera

Thanks guys, i've spoke to the dealer again and they are putting a case into Chrysler.

I called the FCA customer number twice, first got told to wait for the letter and give them a call back if I didn't receive it within 4 weeks, call them back and they will organise it change for me. Didn't get it so called them back last week then was told to take it to the dealer and ask them to look at it, despite telling the person about my first call 4 weeks ago.

Must say though, the dealer was quite helpful and was satisfied with the service otherwise.

Re: Rear safety camera

Now that I am use to the grid lines I find them very helpful.

Re: Rear safety camera

Had the new camera fitted last week. The quality is much better especially at night. The active grid lines indicating the path of your front wheels is awesome

Bigskiddy; I initially thought the same, as my wife's Subi Liberty has fixed lines.

1/2 a day with the active on the GC and i'm converted! The good lady even commented on good the picture was compared to her's and I thought her's was pretty good.

as you said, it's as preference thing.

Re: Rear safety camera

I have recently bought a Nov 13 build MY14 Laredo with the crappy cam (much worse than the 2012 WK2 I traded in) from a used vehicle wholesaler.

Has anyone tried requesting the cam upgrade from a dealer not having bought the vehicle there? Was going to try John Hughes in Perth as I always had my previous WK2 serviced by them. Would be good to try for the active guidelines too.

My Uconnect has tick box for the active guidelines.

Hope someone can offer some advice? Do I need to contact FCA first?

Cheers
