WK2 June build what year?

VIN sticker is on the Drivers Door.

I think your dealer is trying to pull the wool over your eyes on this one.
Lot's of post here on Laredo owners who had nasty camera with no grid lines who now have them.

Tell your dealer your going to FCA with this.

Got them on mine after the swap. 07 2013 Delivered Laredo.

Took the letter to the dealer and they did the biz.

They were not able to advise on the options some have to disable the lines, but hey, at least I can see them at night!!

Regards

Adrian

I have a laredo and had the new camera fitted just after purchase (I have a June 14 build). Had the option to select grid lines in Uconnect, however didn't appear on the screen. When I got the letter to upgrade, showed it to the dealer to get the grid lines. They stated they could do nothing so rang FCA who told me the dealers have no idea. Was told it only involved connecting up a third wire to enable the lines. FCA opened a request for me and the dealer rang me a day later to confirm the work would be done. Took them a month to get around to it and had it done last week. Suspect they replaced the entire loom as there were finger marks all over the inside of my rear window. Now have the gridlines which I can select or unselect at will, fitted at no charge.

Keep pushing Diggum, you should be able to enable the gridlines, provided you have the most current version of Uconnect. Good luck.

Almost certainly your getting fobbed off. Mines a Oct14 build Larado, never got a letter but finally got my dealer to add it in based on what I read in this thread.

A little more to the story - as earlier Larado's got a dodgy (after market?) reverse camera, Jeep sent full kits out to replace them with the decent quality camera as fitted to Limteds and up. The kit includes the extra wiring loom required to enable the gridlines but it's a big job to fit the gridline loom so you end up with a new camera (easy job) and no loom.

Check your Uconnect settings for enabling/disabling gridlines, I think it's under Driving Aids? in the end, I simply said the gridlines weren't working when I turned them on and the service manager said no worries, told me the above story and installed the loom

Re: Rear safety camera

I had the good camera and no lines, the dealer replace the wiring loom and boom all fixed with lines. Mine is a Blackhawk which is based on the Laredo so don't stand for their bullshit.

Keep pushing through FCA Diggum. There are far too many Laredo owners who have had the camera upgrade and then the active gridline upgrade for this to be "smoke and mirrors". It can be done and has been done, at no cost to the owner.

Re: Rear safety camera

I had the original rubbish camera (with static grid lines) replaced almost a year ago following a parking lot incident that would have been prevented, had the camera worked as designed. With the replacement came no grid lines and a reasonable improvement in the camera.

I received the letter like everyone else, however as I had the new camera I had doubts as to whether they would provide the upgrade to the grid lines. I took mine in for the 30,000 service, and was given a verbal indication that CJD should agree to connect the grid lines even though I had the new camera.

Of course, they didn't. I have the newer camera. I told them that yes, I accept the vehicle has the newer camera, but as they did not activate the previously present grid lines that I should at least have the same features that came with the car. Plus they made specific reference to the grid lines in the letter. I made it quite clear that I wouldn't accept anything less.

They went back to CJD, who approved the full wiring harness for dynamic grid lines, which meant yet another day without the car and yet another trip back to the dealer
When I picked the car up, they had replaced the camera (again), as well as sorted out the dynamic grid lines. This camera looks the same as the previous (new) camera, but it is far better in resolution. Perhaps they are on v3 of the camera?

Full credit goes to the service department for going into bat for me. They've always achieved a satisfactory result for me. It's just the loss of time going back and forth that p1sses me off.

Re: Rear safety camera

Further to my camera woes. Vacuuming the back of the car yesterday when I noticed the rear drivers side inner plastic panel (the one with the vent on it) is broken at the vent. The plastic looks like its been pulled out.

Appears when they replace the loom, they had to pull those panels and in doing so have broken it. Just pushed it back and hoped I would'nt notice! Also noticed the small splash guard they were supposed to have fixed is still loose with one screw not attached. This on top of the side plastic body rail that was removed and reattached with either all the pins broken off or just not attached. Their attention to detail is pathetic and I have let the service department know all about it.

Not going to cop paying for any of that lot.

Re: Rear safety camera

^ which is why I get nervous when FCA suggest taking Jeep into dealership for any mods. Wouldn't trust the Hervey Bay service centre after so many complaints.
