Re: Rear safety camera

Had the 40K service done yesterday and requested that the Grid Lines be activated... even told them what needed to be done etc...
Picked the car up after them having it for 10 hours only to be told that I can have the grid lines as long as I cough up for a Camera Upgrade..... $296 I think they said...
I again advised them what they should have done etc but they just refused...
So... who do I contact to sort this out...... mine is 0914 build Laredo Diesel..

Ring FCA. My camera was replaced before the recall and I had no gridlines. After the recall I approached the dealer who refused to do anything about it. FCA had approval to them within an hour.

Re: Rear safety camera

Called FCA and now with their new Customer Relations setup I have to wait for someone to call me so I can explain again... lets see what happens.
I had a look at my Invoice from the 40K service and it says I need a Camera Upgrade to have the Gridlines.. at a cost of $286.48 plus fitting.

Good old Nepean Motor Group... didn't wash the car... were 2.5 hours longer than originally told... but at least they did a software update on the Radio

That's exactly what happened in my case. Had it done and then they broke one of the inner plastic panels changing the loom over. Will battle them over that when I get the car serviced in the next few weeks. The gridlines work a treat however.

Re: Rear safety camera

Just had a call back from FCA and they explained that the campaign to replace camera's etc is now over ......but they are going to cover mine being done anyway.
They are contacting the Dealership and I should hopefully hear from them soon.
A good outcome thanks to this forum..

Now I just wish they had reverse sensors as well... the combination of sensors and camera is fantastic.

Re: Rear safety camera

Mine went in for the 20k service and had the upgrade to show the lines at the same time. Wish I hadn't as the video feed is more jerky. Service centre replaced the cam which looks exactly the same and left the loom as they said it was already in place.

Had the new camera without lines installed not long after purchase. Recently had the lines added as an upgrade and couldn't be happier (other than the dealer breaking the inner cargo plastic quarter panel which they will replace next week). I was sceptical about adding the lines, however use them all the time.

Re: Rear safety camera

Well mine are all scratched up anyway so it isn't going to make much difference unless of course they break something.
It is booked in for the 22nd to have the new camera fitted... they seem to think that is all that is needed... we will see I guess.

Same as Peekay however how is your video feed now with the newer upgrade? Same, worse or better? Did they replace just the camera or did they run a new loom too?
Just interested as mine said the existing loom was fine.

They left my camera in, however given they broke the plastic panel I assume they replaced the loom. Can't say for sure, however the clarity of the picture seems to be better.
