Re: Roof Mount DVD

Best option is to not have kids. Then no need for a DVD.

Stupid answer. Funny... but stupid.

Op... your best bet might have been to order your vehicle with the OEM system.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Rear DVD entertainment system

Since you didn't do that, there are several options out there. Some are dedicated units that offer most, if not all of the features & functionality of the OEM system. Use Google to search for "Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System" and you'll have a lot to choose from.

Re: Roof Mount DVD

thanks but i purchased a blackhawk off the lot so no option to choose.

they are offering to install a roof mount system but not sure if they will significantly impact rear vision.

Re: Roof Mount DVD

Yeah....me too.

Less flippant answer, my daughter just has a cheap standalone DVD player she sits on her lap. Think she bought it with birthday money. And an iPad. Son is happy to look out the window.

Re: Roof Mount DVD

We found it better to get IPads for kids, they can be used outside the car as well.

Re: Roof Mount DVD

+1 Ipad... hours of fun connected to the USB chargers.... Fully charged for the kids in the tent at night, after the Marshmallows and stories around the open fire..

These look super chunky and seem to take up a lot of room.
Roof mount will obstruct rear view. Ill probably just go with the portable ipad or similar option.

Re: Roof Mount DVD

We got the kids a new iPad each and active iPad holders behind the headrest that also charge the iPads and also have wireless headphones. More flexibility than DVDs players and the kids can use the iPads everywhere, not just the car. Best decision that we made.

They fold down and out of the way, so they aren't chunky at all. And they take up almost no additional room when folded down.

Roof Mount DVD

They look like old tech to me. They will be like tape players in a few years I suspect. And the cost is crazy.

I rather have a iPad that is more flexible.
