Yes they are great. Ive had them on my last 4 cars. I used to have a JK with a couplertec. It lost a pad and i didn't notice. The only area that had rust was in the vicinity of the lost pad. That JK was purely a beach only car, and i very rarely rinsed it. It was on the JK for 10 odd years. 6mth after i took it off to put on a new car, the JK was full of rust. The cars since that we take on the beach are fitted with couplertec.

Must have been some old carwash because I can assure you my mates carwash does not use untreated and filtered water to wash your car. Imagine what your car would look like given your statement..
