Servicing in Brisbane

Hi all,

Just wondering if there are any recommendations where to service in Brisbane (apart from the dealers)? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hammond have quoted me $450 for a 10k warranty service which is comparable with CJD at Holland Park. CJD Albion have quoted me mid 5's for the same service. Only the dealer however can keep the SB's up to date and flash the module that might be the deal breaker. I would travel Sunny Coast or Toowoomba based on fellow owners recommendations.

ANY workshop can do the service. If you read what is done, there is very little to justify anywhere near the $450 dealers are charging. The most expensive thing is the oil. I bought 10lt for $109 and you only need 8.4lt for a CRD. Order your filters from the dealer and take it to any mechanic you trust. Give them my service guide and they can check the remaining items on the service list.
Any software updates can be done by the dealer annually. I am not sure if it should be free, but even paying 30mins of labour for the update would be better than spending the money getting a full service.
Remember if you keep an eye on this forum, you will find out about the TSB's that affect your car either before or at the same time as the dealer. The TSB's also state how much labour it will take to do the fix. Dealers will need to start to be more honest, as we are all more informed now..

I'm coming to the same conclusion. Each of the service centres' talking about this unique oil that is flown in via spaceship from the planet Zonk and is a minimum $250 for the CRD because it requires 202L.

Thanks all and Swampy mine is petrol :)

Just an update of the story, I did my 24K service and ended up using one of the CJD dealers who was quoting me $480. Got some quotes from other workshops and the costs were around $350 - $400. The difference is "ok" given I have some other issues e.g. rattles... for the dealers to fix under warranty at one go. However it was not without concerns. After the service, I suspect the dealer did not replace the engine air filter as per manufacturer's instruction / handbook. The invoice did not list out the OEM filter part number used. I was told that the filter had been fitted, which I doubt it. As I understands the air filter can last a long time and probably an over-kill for 24K replacement but I still have worries as it is against the service handbook. Another thing that I noticed is for petrol engines... the dealers use synthetic 0W40 oil while the handbook again (as well as on the the oil cap) states 5W30. Anyone here noticed the same? Think I am going to ask Jeep Australia direct.

0W40 will be ok in your engine. The 0 means it will flow faster than a 5 when cold, eg at startup. So you will get less wear at the most crucial time.

The 40 will be slightly heavier than a 30 at operating temp, which might mean a very slight reduction in fuel economy. However it will have better lubricatiing properties at high temps. So if we get the kind of summer that is being predicted, then that's not a bad thing.

Jeepaus, unfortunately the australian Service and Warranty Handbook does not match the service required for the 3.6 petrol engine in the rest of the world. Everywhere else it is not scheduled to have the engine air filter changed at 24k. It is however scheduled to have the aircon filter changed. Maybe your CJD dealer actually follows the correct service as specified by CJD for export models, but NOT adopted by CJD Australia!

CJD Australia did not bother to give us 3.6 petrol owners a book or paper with the correct service schedule, and I think it sucks! Especially when they are going to change your spark plugs at 48k when the spark plugs are rated for 144k in all other export locations (and even more kms in the US).

Bump....10k is looming although the sticker put on my windscreen at it's monthly freebie states next service due 12k. I'm thinking it's best to go with the handbook. Still quoted $580 out of Albion. Anybody done better around Brizzy with a dealer service on a CRD? Cheers for any info. (Torque converters acting up at 93kmh so I'm thinking I might need to get the TSB's installed for that and the sand malfunction at the same time)

Don't we just wait for the "Oil Change Indicator" system to advise when an oil change is required and cut down the Stealership involvement?

All of that is fine and dandy except when you drop a turobo or motor and jeep Australia refuse the warranty claim on the grounds of wrong incorrect oil used even I the dealer used it.

So what does jeep Australia say?

I'm going to revive an old thread here and ask for updates from those getting services done in the Brisbane area... any positive feedback?

Bit late in replying to this thread guys. I was using Jeep at Moorooka as this was the closest to my work but was never happy with the "service". I only used them for services as I had a couple of ongoing warranty issues. I have used Murchison at Brendale which was OK but finally found IMHO the best service at Trivetts at Taringa. I had my 20k done in November last year and visited them again this month for a faulty rain sensor. I could not fault them on customer service, technical ability, communication or price. They even wash and vac the car each time and dropped me to my office after I drop the car off.

Unfortunately they are on the verge of closing due to poor new car sales. Not sure if they would reconsider if there was demand on the service side but if anyone in the Bris area is looking for great service from a dealer then I suggest you give Rob a call and create some demand here. Note I only found this thread as I'm going to need to find a new place to have services done if they do close.

Guys, Think I'm flogging a dead horse here but anyone have a service centre for the CRD on the south side of Brissy. I have had 3 services at Moorooka and after the last service I vowed I would never go back to them.
I would like someone to service my vehicle and not treat you as a moron like the above mentioned does.

I thought about the dealer at Ipswich but the feedback isn't that positive. Perhaps i will just take it to a generic garage and hope for the best and if dissatisfied then goes elsewhere next time.

Thanks
Brad

I used them once, no problems, but they are too far away for me. Nothing on the west side anymore, so might have to try the local independent mechanic.
