Servicing jeep in perth

Hi,

Can anybody in Perth recommend a dealer for servicing, someone that actually knows about Jeeps.

When you find them, be sure to ask the leprechauns to load the Holy Grail into the back of Jeep, that's if the unicorns will let them.

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

Lol, the last bit is why there are no replies. Remove "someone that actually knows about Jeeps" and you may get someone who will recommend a decent dealer.
If you do not have any warranty work, use a mechanic that you trust, you are not required to have it serviced at Jeep.

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

That's the answers I thought I would get ( But hoped for a miracle ), seems if I don't supply them with the info I get from this site I would get nothing fixed.
They still believe that 1.9 is the latest update for my radio, "but a new update should be out in a couple of weeks", down loaded 2.120 thanks to SOX.
Love the car , pity about the service.

Any update to this? My confidence in Melville jeep is shot after buying my 2012 overland hemi at 18000km and finding "factory installed" stamped on the oil filter when I decided that the oil appeared dirty just after delivery and gave it a change myself.

Upon enquiry with them, I was ignored, then had the receptionist email a price for a 24k service and then in capital letters email back "shell helix 10w30" when I enquired what oil they used. (So much for 5w20)

And all this despite an email when I first enquired that told me it was serviced by the book, it has an up to date service sticker, and the books are stamped that it had its 12000km service. From what I can tell, it never got done. Thankfully it seems fine, but I won't be going back there for servicing. Hence I would love to know of any better dealers sor, especially as I have a couple of warranty niggles id like sorted!

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

Well basically yes, but I don't think i would achieve much carrying on about it. I guess I could have had the oil sampled and made a fuss, but I have heard how evil these Jeep dealers can be so decided to move forward and forget about it (but not return to melville for anything!) I work away 4 weeks on and one off so dont have a lot of time to be chasing down a Jeep dealer; I have however kept all correspondence and took photographs of the filter!

Felt much better after changing the oil and filter myself though! Actually did two oil changes using Nulon 5w20 first up, and then moved to mobil 1 5w20 about 500km later to ensure i flushed out all the old oil. Another observation was that it seemed to like the Nulon oil better (!)

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

You could have a read through another thread in this section where an unfortunate CRD owner over in the east is having an issue with Jeep claiming an engine knock is related to the use of non approved engine oil and filter.
For CRD owners supplying their own oil, there is only one product available in Australia that meets the Chrysler MS11106 specification and that is Mobil 1 Formula ESP 5W30.
For Hemi owners I reckon it would certainly pay to make sure all the dots are joined in this regard as well.
Jeep dealers seem to use whatever oil they have in their drums, but thats anther story….

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

Mmm it is a concern, though I feel a million times better after changing the oil and filter myself and knowing its done. I made sure i used a genuine filter and after reading that the US guys seem very happy with Mobil 1 5w20, paid in gold bars to have some sent from over east.

I'll have to find that thread about the CRD owner.

Jeepy,
I have heard good things about the service guys at Maddington. I have not used them yet as my Overland doesn't arrive until May but that is part of the reason I ordered my Overland from them.

Re: Servicing jeep in perth

This is a great thread for prospective Perth buyers to get good info, or at least to see who else is from Perth since there isn't much representation from this side of Oz.

I got a lot out of these forums before buying our MY14 Grand Cherokee and am happy to help with any info I can regarding our recent buying experience.

Incidentally I am also very keen to see any recommendations for the OP's question as I'm not so sure I trust the guys at Melville either!

Apart from being told some fit issues were normal, we were also given a Towsafe towbar instead of the genuine Mopar bar without any notice beforehand that it would be aftermarket. The reversing camera for our Laredo also hasn't been installed which I know is an ongoing issue Aus wide.

I am still deciding whether to ask for the towbar to be replaced with the genuine one, though I saw a post from Elvin who said he got his Mopar bar replaced with the Towsafe because it was better than the Mopar one. (though maybe I'm more annoyed about the principle rather than the towbar itself)

That's pretty average fitting aftermarket accessories to your vehicle. Note for yourself and others, always insist that they put the word "Genuine" in front of any accessory written up on the quote and / or sales contract.

In regard to your Tow bar, find a genuine one to compare it to, including the cut out in the plastic under the bumper, and if you are happy with it, and it meets the genuine load rating, then I'd keep it. Otherwise there is always the risk that they damage something while changing it, assuming that they would. Not real ethical though, and I would a least call them on it. I'm sure they will roll out the availability excuse..... They still should have asked you whether you would wait.
