Really? I live right near there, that would be heaps easier.

Yep. I stand corrected though, it's actually Taringa, but close enough. They said they should be up and running in a few weeks. I assume they'll be using fully trained and experience mechanics. Might give them a while to settle in though. Service centre on Walker St, next to Bob Jane T Mart.

Re: Servicing under warranty

ok, I was thinking roundabout near indro shops. But Taringa is still good. Do you know which franchise is running it? Its Trivett Prestige at the moment, and I've noticed they do have Jeep written on their sign.

edit: BTW I did my first service at Cricks Mansfield, but I'd rather do them closer to home from now on if I can.

Not sure who is running it to be honest. Would be good to find out who and whether or not they are a ratbags or not. Fingers crossed it's good.

Cheers, Simon
Which stealer dealer is that Simon?

I'm inclined to take mine to the likes of JeepKraft/SBR Offroad given the horrendous service cost i've seen.

With those extended warranties offered, just get them to stamp it with wording to the effect that it doesn't need to be serviced by issuing dealer. I got one and told them I may move state so couldn't use them, they were happy to stamp it.

Thanks Simon, I know the dealer principal there and reports say they are OK, so will give them a go.

Re: Servicing under warranty

Dealer servicing is an absolute ripoff. I have to service mine every 6 months even though I only do 4000k's between services. Buggered if I'm paying $550 for the 6 month servive and $750 for the 12 month one. Tried to negotiate with no success.

Took it to Midas and had it done with a smile for half the price, stamped logbooks, everything. The ACCC specifically say that you can get your new car serviced anywhere and still retain the factory standard warranty.

I considered getting extended warranty but almost $3k for any extra 3 years was too much, especially the hidden cost of the requirement of servicing at the dealer during that time. Would have in actuality cost closer to 4.5k. My thoughts are, if it's going to break down, it will do so within the factory warranty period. Spending a mint on extended warranty doesn't make sense to me, especially when most aren't worth the paper they are printed on, with about a million exclusions and convuluted loopholes for them to weasel out of a claim.

In regards to getting the software updated, I either do it myself (did this for uconnect when it wasn't playing my flash media properly) or get it done whenever I have to bring it in for a recall fix.

Re: Servicing under warranty

Yeah the whole 6 month service thing is a load of bollocks. Even more so in your case with only doing 4K between services. I managed to do just over 10K in 6 months on mine so wasn't so bad. There was a full 3 year servicing price spreadsheet on here somewhere but I can't find it again, I'd like to find it if anyone can point me in the right direction. I think it had the 40K service at something like $1200 on its own. I think $1000-1200 a year for serving is pretty steep if you don't do many K's in it.

Snuke posted this originally.

I paid $380 for my 6 month service, my cruiser was more than that. I'm happy with 6 month oil changes, I've always done them that often in any turbo car I've owned.

The 40k service replaces a few filters and diff oil, so it costs a bit more. You have to watch the 50k service, some dealers incorrectly include a trans service, or something costly.

Re: Servicing under warranty

That's the one. Thanks for reposting that. I wasn't able to do anything with it at the time on my phone. Just wanted to know what I'm potentially in for. I'll be shopping around. Still to settle in a new servicing agent.
