"Jeep Australia said it will receive 25 per cent of global SRT8 allocation, equating to around 1000 per year, and has already taken more than 250 orders."

25% for Australia?? I'm not buying that. Currently, production for vehicles outside of the U.S. is 33% of the worldwide total, I can't see Australia taking most of of the export allocation! Besides, more than 5,000 will be built for model year 2012 so their numbers don't add up.

I agree. Probably more like 2.5%. They probably included their overpricing markup in the figure and got confused.

It is just more free publicity for the SRT8. With perceived delays, it makes people want them more. This can create a sellers market and make the care more desirable.

Wise words guys, didn't look into that much but now I see the flaws in the article. Just shows how you can't trust media these days sadly. I reckon that when the say 'global srt8 allocation' they probably mean 25% of export models, which is probably about right. As for the dates, I'd say anyone that has had one already built will get it on time but orders from now might have to wait...

Confirmed each dealership will get one Srt8 with the rest coming over July and August. The reason, so dealers weren't seen to get preferential treatment. So because my dealer has two orders in (mine and one other) its luck of the draw. If its a black one it's mine, red then it's the other customer.

That sounds logical from a dealership point of view.
However, I would have assumed that when you placed an order for a SRT8, you specified the paint colour, the upholstery colour, as well as possibly some accessories? If so, then an "Order" would have needed to be placed with Jeep US, the manufacturer. If that is the case, then Chrysler Aust would have the Order number, and due to their arrogance, have decided to hold that information and not release it for whatever nieve reason.
I personally feel you are entitled to that information if you placed money with them in the form of a deposit. If Chrysler Aust would not release that number to you, I would be asking them for a good valid reason why not.

From the area manager to the dealers this morning:

subject: Grand Cherokee SRT8 launch date

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I know you have taken orders and the receiving a number of enquiries for the all new SRT8 Grand Cherokee. The launch date of the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 is expected to be in August/September.
Our aim is to ensure we have enough stock for all dealers at launch.
I will keep you informed closer to the time of the exact date.

Probably overfill orders.
Many people who did place an order have since cancelled and moved on as many of those 132 cars have been in Australia for months, and just sitting in storage yards awaiting the whim of Jeep Australia to actually release them to the public.

I personally would not touch one, as they are about to commence the building of the MY13 model, so by the time 1 of the 132 has been sold, it will already be last year's model.

Jeep Aust think all buyers are stupid.

The situation, as I understand it, is that many of these SRT8's have been sitting around since in Oz since from March this year awaiting Jeep Aust's release plan. From what has been previously stated, Jeep Aust wanted 2 cars per dealership to be available at release time.
The SRT8 MY12 was released in around March last year. The first Australia car was built in January of this year. 132 cars were delivered to Aust.
The MY13, in July this year. So far 54 have been built for Aust.
The MY14 is due to commence around January next year.
The way to tell the various models is by the 10th character of the VIN code.
B=2011
C=2012
D=2013
Milous did state that 100 of the MY12 cars that have been sitting around were meant for Demo, but knowing the way these dealers think, I would not be surprised if they will be passed as new stock and sold at premium pricing. Buyer beware.
In regard to pricing, I still have not heard of any official price release. However, if you read back through this thread, you will see the figure of $90k being quoted.
You can se a great deal of info on the WK2 SRT8 at the following site. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_srt8_production.htm
