Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

If you only need a car as a stopgap until the SRT8 arrives and you need or want something similar, then I would look at a used Ford Territory Ghia turbo. A tune on that will get you close to the output of the SRT and a couple of other small mods will get you over it.
My old one had over 300kw with just a tune.
Bang for your buck they are unbeatable.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Funny how many of us had TTG's before our JGC. Mine was a nice one in Seduce.
One option is my $35,000 FPV GTE that I am trying to sell.
But seriously for the money nothing new gets close, aside from FPV/HSV. X5's start at $90k for the povo pack. Another choice is the 300C SRT8, but they are sold out.
I would buy my GTE, then wait for the 2014 models in the new year.

This was the response when enquiring from my sales manager who contacted head office if we would receive Vapor and Alpine editions in Aus;

You can tell the customer that these models are currently being investigated for viability into the local market.

Emma, I think Milous was talking about 'global' production of these edition models, not 'Oz'. Or were you just sharing as an FYI? In any case they would not confirm them publicly since even the price is not announced yet.

With so many unique parts on this model, and existing problems like Carbon trim & front bumpers popping out, I would not be surprised if the suppliers reason is correct. Not fair to point the finger just at an MD.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

All of the above concrete my final decision not to committ to waiting on the new SRT8. I was overly excited the day that I ordered the Jeep back in March. I was on a buzz having been promised delivery of the car in a couple of months. The first delay was a set back but one that I swallowed knowing I was getting such a great car.

Having since cancelled my order and also knowing that the car built in early 2012 is sitting at a yard somewhere in Perth but still isnt released to the public, the whole JEEP process has left a sour taste in my mouth and I wouldnt be recommending at least my Jeep Dealership to anybody just because of the whole lack of communication.

The mushroom analogy that was used was rather prudent.

It was more of just a FYI!!
I think the Vapour looks awesome and was fingers crossed (but didn't hold my breath!) we would have that option in Aus.

Milous are you able to confirm the allocation for JGC SRT8 Aus for production for the rest of the year?
We are waiting to hear if we will get one for Jan delivery..

Ps I kind of figured the Vapour and alpine wouldn't be part of Aus production first up just thought I'd see what the answer was from Chrysler Australia!

At this time I know of no plans for the 2013 model Alpine/Vapor to be offered outside of the U.S. It's possible that they (or similar editions) will be offered for the export market in the future, but I would think if that happens it would be next year, during the 2014 model year.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

If you are talking about January, would it not be worthwhile waing for the MY14?

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

I suggest we all jump on the jeep Australia FB page and post something, demanding that they respond! especially since their most recent post is asking if we have registered our interest in the Jeep srt8! I registered back in April and still to hear from them...
