Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Bad combination of hot temperature, launch style and other elements including tight engines. The aussie journos ranged wildly on the day in Anglesea, most with passenger etc. I've done 5.0 in US on undulating roads and plenty of other guys in mid 4s with perfect conditions/launching. But yeah, sh!tty promotion...

Carsales Report:
"So let’s start with the figures. The claimed 0-100kmh in five seconds or less proved illusory during timed testing at the Anglesea proving ground on the launch drive.
In hot weather, at the end of a long road drive and two up, figures ranged from 6.2 secs down to 5.3 as various hacks had a crack... Later, in the cool of the evening (down from 30 degrees to 14) and with no passengers, I dialled up the Performance Pages 0-100km/h timer and launched. The result? 4.6 sec as easy as you like"

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Popped into my local dealer today and sat in a black pearl one. OMG. They look one real badass mofo on wheels (I think that's the right term pushing the boundaries of political correctness) Seriously, they look and sit as mean as hell in the flesh...the 20's look like 22's...love the calipers, love the front and rear vallance, LLLLLLOVE the bonnet scoops...wish I had tiptronic....fair to say I want one....(quoted $85k on the road although the showroom one is not for sale). What is suprising is the amount of space in the engine bay. The CRD looks pretty cramped in comparison. I reckon this engine would be a dream to work on. Nice

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

I saw a Silver one at Mosman. It was a sold MY2012 with roof and audio. I noticed it has the same spare as my car, so owners will not have to rely on the run flats.
I am sure the owner will be very happy.

Impressed with some things but unimpressed with other things.

Some shots of the one I spotted.

Those wheel arch extension things look ridiculous.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Apparently they extensions are for AU only. I am sure it has to do with the compliance and the fact there are no mudflaps. From what I saw it would be very easy to remove and I agree they look weird, and do not suite the car.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Good to see others have similar opinions on the weird look of this.
In my opinion the interior and exterior of an Overland is more impressive.

One thing I did like on this was the different rear window wind deflector ... or whatever it's called.

I feel like defecting it for having that ridiculous mud guard.

The thing on the window is called a rear spoiler. I can see the difference but only barely, and I think I prefer the non-SRT one anyway. To each his own I guess.

I don't like the SRT in that colour though.

Agree and possibly the main reason I find it just doesn't look right.

Talking Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Pity the poor grey coloured SRT8 that drives up the Stuart Hwy and gets pulled over because of the colour.
