Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Hey Guys,
Please note that a dealer is at the mercy of the Distributor when it comes to receiving and sharing information. So if you get no answers, or blank stares from your dealer it's because they have not been informed.

On the other side of the coin, a Distributor will not share critical information with dealers until it is rock solid. With any new vehicle launch from an overseas brand, this often does not happen until the final hour due to the vast number of variables, for the most part including production.

Just because there are a (relatively) small number of vehicles built and delivered to Australia does not mean that model will be launched to the market - They only get one chance at launching and won't do it until there are sufficient quantities on hand to justify the expense.

They will also 99% of the time wait until after the press launch before releasing to the public. So until you see SRT8 reviews in the media, you know the car is not ready for sale yet (though dealers may have a 'sample' model to take orders from).

Yes, this is my first post but I can assure you I speak from very close first hand experience in the entire process. Oh, and I am also waiting for my WK SRT8

Although not necessarily positive news, I hope this helps a little.

Cheers.

PS - The SRT8s you are seeing in Melbourne are the press fleet being run in and tested by Distributor staff. You may also note some of them will have personalised plates.

Thanks Enforcer, we have to turn over my wife's co car soon, I've been dropping hints though I don't think she's in it, she's eying off another TD Jetta or Audi.

Presumably they'll cease fitting the 5 speed into these cars in the next MY / cycle, my 5 speed in the CRD is quite lazy in normal and a bit better in sports mode. I didn't really understand what all the fuss was in the forums re 5 speed vs 8 speed before I took delivery last year but now I do. I'm REALLY hoping the 10k service / updates will address the sluggish performance.

Having said that I think the 5 speed would be more responsive with the hemi.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Bono,
Thanks for your side of the story, but the end result is the client is being let down.
Why can we find more information from the internet about the build status and delivery of our vehicles than JeepAU and the dealers ?
CJD AU need to pull their fingers out and start to realise they have a great product, but their dealers generally suck and so does the lack of communications from CJD.

CJD (The Distributor) is very aware of what cars are ordered and what cars are being built. The Dealers are also aware of what cars they have ordered and their ETA. Somewhere there is a severe lack of communications and this needs to be rectified, or they will lose sales.

I expect that a growing majority of perspective buyers will Google the feedback from Jeep owners before they consider buying one. Like me they had preconceived ideas about the expensive parts and poor service that has become a reputation for Jeep in Australia. The ONLY way they can change this bad history is to pick up their service levels.
It seems to be amateur hour at CJD at times, as they can never seem to get their brochures correct, cannot tell us when our cars will be delivered and change the specifications of the cars (tow hooks) and then expect us to wear it. It is really not that hard to communicate and be upfront with your clients.

Does that make you fellow slave to the shipping / air industry or do you just happen to work nearby watching the action?

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Can't agree more. Best treatment by a million miles we have experienced in the last couple of months was by the local Hyundai dealer and thier service department. Made the whole experience buying my wifes car second to none. Reading through the Export GC threads, there is an obvious systemic issue throughout most Australia dealerships. I know the franchising arrangments might be a little dfferent over here, but I don't think for one minute our US friends experience the same PPS. As you mention, there is a great product out there selling itself but its hard to justify your purchase when your mates are having a laugh at your expense!

In addition Bono, many of us have been buying new cars for many years and know and understand the drill.

This is my first ever foray with Jeep, I am happy with the product but I agree with Enforcer 100%, it seems to us, the client, CJD are amateurish and woeful at selling their core product down here. It also seems CJD are sitting on the fence, they want the benefit of forward bookings but hesitate to commit to a market until they "launch".

CJD need to quickly reinvent their processes down here from HQ down to least experienced sale rep on the floor (of which there seem to be many).
On the positive, the ads and marketing people are doing a fine job, it just seems a shame all that work and expense may amount to nothing if the follow through is not in existence.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

I guess another note worth pointing out.
Because this is a USA forum, we all read about the way dealers treat the USA clients. They seem to get a better treatment. Things like many discounts, better pricing for car, parts & servicing. Strong lemon laws that seem to work. Better feedback from the dealer as to the progress. More relaxed about Mods.
This tends to make us more demanding, as we are paying 50% more and getting shafted for the privilege.

Re: SRT8 Order Book is Open

Ok, so if they're producing 4000 unit pa and 25% of this is allocated to the Australian Export market, I say that qualifies Australian buyers to demand a far greater knowledge base of their products and service levels from local dealerships.

It's just bloody irritating when we lay down hard earned wads of cash for a product we're placing faith in when the dealers clearly demonstrate a "couldn't care less attitude".
