Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

I've done 180,000 in my CRD it's not been without issue but I love driving this car and I'm fortunate to have an awesome service manager who has gone into bat for me on several occasions, can not think of another vehicle that ticks as many boxes.
Just wish the parts prices were realistic.
Anyone had to buy a plastic windscreen washer jet? $90
Stupid money through Australian channels.
I'm still on my original brake pads tho so that's a plus as years ago I was quite $270 a set( front) or $270 rear.
Service intervals and parts prices have been my only turn off!
That and no flipper glass if I " upgrade " to newer model.
Oh and no chrome strip on the doors to stop those annoying parking lot dings.

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

See below for the Jeep Talk reply to my question.
I expected what seems to be the standard reply "speak to your dealer".
I thought, for a split second, I might have seen glimpse of a single candle light at the end of a long tunnel.
But I wont be holding my breath.
cheers
Steve

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to visit Jeep Talk and asking us a question.

You asked:
'I have a Nov 13 WK2 Grand Cherokee. Many new cars coming onto the market now offer voice entry destination & voice to text for mobiles, these features were promised & promoted in the Australian booklet (with a wood grain look cover). When will Jeep activate these features for Australian owners'

Our response:

'

Hi Sal,

I’ve checked with the team regarding voice features for the Nov 13 Wk2 Grand Cherokee and they have confirmed the following:

Voice Entry for Navigation feature has been introduced to our market for some models however, it is not currently available for your model Nov 13wk2 GC (MY14). We are working on making this feature available but we are yet to confirm a timeline for its availability.

There are two forms of Voice to Text features - The full freeform Voice to Text feature (i.e. where you can compose a text message via voice) is only currently available on the Uconnect Access systems used in the US.

Selective “Voice to text” (i.e. where you can select from a predefined list of messages via voice) is currently available in Australia for the model you have mentioned, however it does not currently include iPhone’s.

The team is continually working on making these voice features available, and we will be sure to update you via Jeep Talk.

I hope this helps.
Cheers
Jen

Please let us know if you have any more questions or if anything needs to be clarified.

Regards

Jeep Talk

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

That is a nice change. I wonder if they have taken over their FB page form the useless PR company they had running it.

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

Test drove a new Limited yesterday whilst waiting to pick mine up from being serviced.
I must say those extra few cogs are outstanding and the Ltd is very well equipped compared to three or four year ago, I asked about trading up to a new OL and even the Summit in the showroom but mine plus $40k is a stretch. Having picked it up after its 80k service, its still a delight to drive. Just wish the damn Nitto's would wear out. The moan is driving me nuts!!

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

What to do, what to do....

My one year extension on my lease runs our in a month. ( now had my GC for 4 years - time flys)

Details on the MY16 seem to be MIA, so I'm not prepared to place an order sight unseen.

I don't like the Everest. Maybe I just give in and get a Prado????

Thinking out loud...

Read again my thread title!!!
The new one is a delight (but so was the old one), seems to have a bit more grunt and for sure the extra cogs are brilliant. Runs on the smell of an oily rag it seems - 1700 rpm at 100K, and interior noise is definitely reduced.
The different placing of the starter button is a pain, the console shifter is weird, and we are still undecided about the black headlining.
Certainly not sorry we bit the bullet though.
John

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

The age old dilemma. The known of the current model versus the potential of the new model. I think either will be a fair bet unless you want to give up some of what you've become used to.

What are your primary requirements?

Cheers,
Steve

A Prado?? You might as well keep your current GC. You'll be going backwards in regard to features, power and technology, just to name a few.

Years ago I saw an ad in the Trading Post for a Suzuki Mighty Boy with a rear mounted, blown 454 driving a dog clutch to a retrofitted rear axle.

That's what you need.

Re: Stopped procrastinating and did it!

Over the past few days I have been bombarded with Text, email, mail from Jeep regarding a "1 day incredible sale" for this Saturday.
Looks like Jeep are trying to bolster their year figures. Looks like all dealers are participating.
