Is this possible, I'm presuming yes although I have seen some pics of the Nav units and seems that the plastic screw mount housing might differ from top of the unit or the side of the unit.
I haven't removed my RB2 so I don't know which way it is in my vehicle.
EDIT:
Thanks to some help from a friend I have found out the the GJC mygig units have the mounting holes top and bottom of the unit, where as the wrangler units are mounted on the sides of the unit.
One last concern I have is that while I will gain Nav function I may loose Bluetooth audio streaming with the RHP, can anyone confirm that it supports audio streaming and the that uconnect will still function correctly?
you can mount the rhp this have bluethoot streaming for working mic you ned a other wiring cable because your rb2 have a uconnect modul, the rhp have uconnect built in.
Thanks SOX, I thought that may be the case, so bluetooth audio streaming will work but uconnect handsfree phone function with be broken without a different cable. Do you happen to know the part number for the cable i will require to get uconnect working? And is it easy to install the required cable?
That's what I was hoping for with the RHP also it seems that the REP does not support Bluetooth Audio streaming or iPod/iPhone connection from the center console USB port, so REP is not a option and Ive got a RHP mygig sourced.
Unfortunately the RHB is not suitable as its North America/Canada only, I need Australian maps.
I'm confused about the uconnect setup though.
SOX explained that the RHB has the uconnect module built in but the RB2 that I currently have has the uconnect bluetooth module separate?
I have seen diagrams on just for jeeps of the wiring for the uconnect module and mic kit which I am guessing is what I have currently in my export limited, apart from the mic being integrated into rear reading light structure
So how is the mic and center column USB wired up to the RHP unit?
From pics of the RHB I see 2 small sockets on the back (white and blue) are these for GPS and AM/FM antenna?
Then the 2 large sockets (black) I guess for power and one to run to a interface for the uconnect mic and console ipod USB?
As i understand it your original fitted radio is integrated to the ECU via canbus - that's why there isn't a PIN - the system knows that radio.
May be worth checking what steps might be necessary to get the system to recognise a new radio - just to include in the budget....
And to take you sideways off your topic (sorry!)........for nav function in our Laredo with RB2 we've opted to go with an iPad (with inbuilt gps) running an off line mapping app. It sits great down on the console, easy to see, heaps of on and off road maps and fills in our computer function when traveling. No turn by turn audio though.
Thanks for your input John, the RHP unit that I want has a PIN included, I made sure of that otherwise the dealer would not be able to associate the mygig with the VIN and it would have been useless.
I'm getting a tow hitch installed and the dealer said he will flash the mygig for no additional charge
Got a great deal on the tow hitch $800 installed including labour for genuine mopar.
Nothing like doing a bit of homework before it goes pear shaped!
Good deal on the tow hitch - the Best Bars unit from NZ that is sold as the Mopar bar here is a rugged unit and we've dragged 2150 kg for about 17000k so far with no issues. You'll find your Jeep a great tow vehicle.
Agreed, at $1000 aud the RHP unit is a pretty good deal but if fails to function like the existing RB2 (Bluetooth audio an uconnect) then what a waste of hard earned cash.
I'm probably better off getting the iPad mini wifi with a standalone nav app with pre loaded maps. Im thinking the iPad might be a little cumbersome strapped to the dash.
Hi Sox
i have the same problem and have purchased the 666 cable but doesnt seem to plug in anywhere except for the back of head unit , have you seen this done before personally?
Thank you so much SOX, that information was exactly what I was looking for.
So all up I'm looking at about $1150 installed and flashed, the dealer quoted me $3500.
Hopefully I can then sell the RB2 for $300 making the Nav upgrade great value.
EDIT: I have the auto dimming rear view mirror? Someone a challenger forum have said then the harness I will need is part number 82211868
Just remember, the Nav unit in the Jeep is rubbish, due to the way it routes destinations. It shows the roads, but sometimes if that road has not been "verified" it will pretend it does not exist and take you klms out of your way..
