Re: The pre-runner discussion thread

Hey Guys,

We're working on a few options to protect the lower front area of the WK2. Once I've completed the full launch of our website, I'll be posting some prototype photos for everyone to see and comment on.

Cheers,
Bill

Will it be done by June? Got a trip planned and would love to have one for that.

Unfortunately I don't have a release date yet. I'm hoping it will be done before then, but it's hard to say at this point. I want to release a few options all at the same time.

Cheers,
Bill

Re: The pre-runner discussion thread

Alright, got bored again, and was thinking about airflow, and changing the angle so there isn't too much upward effect on the aero. Here's what I came up with. Not exactly what I had in mind, but best I could do with photoshop. The idea is a squarer cross member, then run a hoop square up from that which contains mesh and the hooks. It could also be cut out for the ACC camera to pop out of, then some sort of pressed/molded steel plate under the cross member to the sump plate for protection.....

Re: The pre-runner discussion thread

Yeah, I like the mesh part, but not sure about the cross-member arrangement.... I might go back to the original one and see if I can work some sort of mesh air flow arrangement into that....

Problem is that there isnt enough approach angle which i think should be more put into consideration because if you have a high enough angle you wont need heavy duty protection because nothing will hit the front so you are secure both ways.. but the way i see it.. both of your arrangments are very close to the stock air dam

Re: The pre-runner discussion thread

I don't think so, the first arrangement opens up far better approach angle infront of the wheels, and the angle provides a fair bit more clearance at the front. It will depend if you decided to install it infront or behind the lip of the upper bumper, if you wanted to set it back behind the lip, again you would improve your clearance by a fair margin. But where ever you set the bar, it is approx 45 degrees from the approach line, compared to the original 34 degrees.

Well i plan on throwing that useless airdam and i have the 2012 so the shape before that another question is will it protect the air suspension computer and the washer bottle

Re: The pre-runner discussion thread

The earlier bumper shape sits a bit lower, I'm not sure what Bill has planned, but I thought that you could adjust the height at the mounting point to sit a bit lower or higher, depending on the model year.

The idea of the pre-runner is to protect the air suspension compressor and washer bottle. Rocky Road do a pre-runner, but it doesn't cover these parts.
