Mkmydnr saw your GC last time I was at Kerry's that's one smick looking GC, it's usual to pay a deposit for parts, but don't pay in full up front and defiantly don't pay for labour up front, once they have all your money their service gets even worse (I know that's hard to believe, but yes it can go from 0 service into the -ve they are that useless ), if they can't give you a time frame buy the parts else were and have them fitted by some one else (or do it your self) that way you'll probably save money and there is less chance your GC will get damaged while the parts are being fitted (Kerry's can't even take wheel nuts off with out damaging them )
Good luck when dealing with Kerry's you'll need it!, make sure you have a very good look over your GC after every time they touch it, your life may depend on it!

We averaged 11.7l/100km for the trip and the Jeep performed fantastically. A great tow vehicle, heaps of Nm and plenty of KW for any situation. I did take me 4 hours when I got home to get rid of all that dust from my brand new jeep however! Enjoy your trip.
Agreed with all of the above. Great spot and it was a good test before I travel the Nullabor over Christmas. We ended up with a better return as we were unloaded, but our average for our 1500 km was 10.2l/100 km. If I can average 11, I'll be happy. I'm still getting used to the rattle with the hitch. We use a D035 system, which means I've had to invert the receiver. I am impressed with the way the Jeep handles the tow and after a good run on the dirt, no dust inside. But yes, you need to put some time aside for the big clean. We managed the trip home in one day, so it is very comfortable travelling 750 km in a day with our camper. I think that is as far as I want to go.

Re: The Towing thread

I just came back from an inland trip to Canarvan in WA.
Spent 4 hours today cleaning the red dirt off the car, but still heaps left!!

Gotta clean the under carriage next.

Oz, with the DO35 you should get no rattle, 2 things for you to check, 1 make sure the anti rattle bolt on the GC tow hitch (underneath ) is nice and tight, 2 grease the DO35 when new they don't seem to have enough grease in them (just put a grease gun on the nipple and pump until grease comes out from around the bush). We had a rattle after fitting our DO35v2 after doing both the above it has been quite for over 10,000km now
Good luck Yoda

Re: The Towing thread

Ha, unfortunately not!

Those skids plates came in handy on my trip, Steve. There were a number of large rocks that I was saved from.
I'll give you a buzz soon for when you need a hand doing yours. Might be able to this weekend.

I'm sure it'll be a heap quicker than mine were!

Thanks Yoda for your advice. The rattle is actually coming from the tow bar receiver having some play with the tongue. Even though the pin is secured, there still seems to be a small gap which allows for some play under a load. Not sure what can be done to stop this and the bolt is secure underneath. I might have some time on the weekend to have a closer look.

Cheers Yoda, unfortunately work is on bore water though and a couple of times now someone has put the sprinkler on my car and I tell you what those water marks are a nightmare to get off and stand out on the black.

After getting confirmed in writing 10days delivery and immediate installation for 3/4 the items (4-6weeks for the rest) I reluctantly forked over the money. It really is a joke they way they do business but dont you worry, I will be polishing the rig the day before it goes it so I know exactly what the condition is and I will expect it back in the same.

Re: The Towing thread

Towing novice here. Does anyone know if the Tekonsha 2 plug connector (3045-P) that is used for the 2011-13 model years will work with the 2014 model? This is the harness that connects a P3 brake controller directly to the Jeep's under dash jack. I have been talking to Tekonsha for 5 weeks now and they can't give me an answer. Thanks in advance for any info.

The au models don't have that connector at all. They need to be manually wired in.
