I also use a 4 camera system on my van, and monitor it with a 7" monitor on the dash. No problem with it touching the dash.

Also, with 3.5 tonne on the back, my fuel consumption was 14.8 L/100. Tansmission temp sat around 92C and Transmission temp around 76-82C
Hi allypally

Do you use WDH when towing on road and remove it when not on the black stuff.

Thanks

Re: The Towing thread

Has anyone who has fitted the brake controller themselves managed to get all brake lights on the Jeep working when the manual switch is operated?

If so, how?

Re: The Towing thread

Hey everyone I just picked up a 2014 limited v6 and its great. I wanted the tow package but was unable to find a jeep with it that wasn't 50k and since I won't likely tow anything more than 3 or 4k I figured I would just add the parts of the tow package I needed. So the dealer agreed on the buyers agreement to put the hitch on but I think it would be a good idea to also upgrade the cooling since jeep upgrades this when they install the tow group. I cant for the life of me figure out what parts that would be I was on mopars web site for parts and they have a ton of different radiators and trans coolers but does anyone know what parts I would need to make my cooling equivalent to the tow package? Thanks in advance everyone.

Apart from the actual hitch and wiring loom, all Aus spec GCs come with the tow pack as standard.
With our Mopar (Best Bars) hitch you can keep the rear tow hook attached.

Trailer Tow Group IV
Trailer towing preparation includes: trailer hitch; Delete rear tow hook;
Class IV receiver hitch;
7 and 4 pin wiring harness;
Space-saver spare tire;
Normal duty suspension;
Heavy duty alternator;
Heavy duty engine cooling system;
Automatic rear suspension leveling

I'm in the u.s. Is this site mainly Aus.? I am basically interested in the part numbers for the upgraded cooling components in the tow package.

Re: The Towing thread

Franka, This thread is mainly for exported GC's which are different in regard to tow pack specifications. You will not be able to rely on the information supplied about Australian versions of the GC. American tow packs are very different to what we use.
I recommend you add your location to your profile in order that responses to your questions can see your location and therefore give better advice.

That's good to know as I didn't and was concerned a little after reading some other threads. I have to tow boats around for work. Is there any upgrades needed to cool the gearbox ?

I think it'd depend on the weight of the boat and duration of the haul. For severe work, a trans cooler is cheap insurance. I used to do a lot of heavy sand work North of Perth, with the responsibility to tow out if required. I fitted a trans cooler immediately, even though Prado's are not considered vulnerable in that regard.

Fitting one to the GC shouldn't be too challenging... there's a lot of space behind the grille. What's the details of your haul?

Cheers,
Steve
