Installed my towbar a few months back and only now got to getting around to looking at installing the harness.. Guess I should have read the thread before I pulled the rear panel off in the back left. Turns out my dealer supplied me with a MY11/12 harness..

Now I have read a fair bit of this thread today but correct me if I am wrong..

1) The MY11/12 harness does not fit as there is no breakout connector in the MY14 ?? Well couldn't find one anyway.

2) The MY14 harness either still does not exist or it is hard to come by?

Another question is can the MY11/12 be made to fit by splicing? I don't care about hooking up a brake controller as I only pull a small box trainer with Quad bike..

I am sure most of this has been answered in here, so I apologise..

I had a look through the pictures in that Photobucket folder Snuke. I couldn't quite make it out without looking under my car at the same time, but isn't that trailer wiring simply spliced into the car's loom? If so, it's just a new part number for the same kinda thing.

I'm sure I read somewhere... perhaps rumoured and not fact though... that a plug and play solution for the MY14 exists under the bonnet somewhere. I can't recall if the story was that an interface box was required, but the tale did entail that dealer programming was required. This, along with the long cable run under the car, might be the backstory on why we don't see an elegant solution on MY14s in practice.

I dug for ages trying to get a plug and play system... and gave up due to concussion from the wall.

With all of the electrical tape, I would say it is safe to say it was spliced.

As I understand it, American GCs with the tow group, come with a blue plug under the dash to plug-and-play a brake controller and a pre-wired tailer harness that terminates with a plug somewhere behind the rear bumper. Simple and logical isn't it? So why do we get so stuffed around by Chrysler Aust? I think I've answered my own question.
