Was there issues with the fit with the older ones? Or the loom?

Well I'm still waiting to see the magic of a MY14 loom but I think you'll find there's nothing better about it. I had no issues with the "old" wiring kit, aside from it being the "old one". ;-)

The bar fits just fine... I believe that it is identical.

Ooops... double Snuked. I cut that information from the linked eBay ad. Apologies.

Thanks for the info on the model number ... the 3.6 with the 8 speed is now 2,812kg ...

Correct, nothing magical about it, and seemingly no difference between MY13 bar and MY14

I have the MY14 bar and loom, Auscop has MY13 installed on his.

Re: The Towing thread

i have the 2014 wiring loom and there is nothing special in it. they have just joined it into existing wires near the back left corner of the car. it works fine with my trailer but haven't got my caravan yet (another 4 weeks) so not sure o that. i took the feed for my P3 from the brake light wire on the towbar side of the junction just in case. The blue brake wire wa taped onto the loom so i freed it up and attached it to the P3

Re: The Towing thread

Much discussion elsewhere on feedback via the towbar when towing a trailer. Does everyone have this problem or are some towbars quiet please?

Whilst I understand having the coupling socket tight and the undies over the ball, I find have never experienced such a rattle with any other vehicle. I'm wondering whether the tow bar has been fitted under tension making the feedback more apparent?

The noise is not as bad with a loaded trailer with a fair bit of weight on the ball but even then as the over-ride slide move back and forth there is a crash.

This is going to drive me mad on the dirt, although my camper has a Hyland coupling so I can lock the ball up pretty tight.

Re: The Towing thread

I have this problem quite severely with my Landcruiser, despite removing play at the tow all, and ensuring the set bolt in the bar is tightened up against the tongue.
Even with the Jeep, which has a treg hitch (and therefore no play like that with a tow ball) there is still some noise. The best suggestion I have heard - earlier in this thread I think - was to put a second bolt into the bar to tighten agains the tongue on the side of the bar to stop sideways movement.

Re: The Towing thread

Hey guys how's it going. I like some don't want the apprentice to be the one installing things on my nice new car, btw is a 14 GC Limited - picked up last Wednesday.
I manage yesterday to get the Mopar tow bar and electric bakes in.
One question i have (which i think was answer further back by barboots white/lime 12v) the wire for the reverse on the harness did they know which one to use? The install instructions say the white with green strip but there is two, one carries 12v and the other 5v. I have googled until I past out and can't find anything on it.

Also my two cents on the single brake light coming on. Most would do what I did which was to head to the tail light as it had 12v when depressed as the brake switch at the pedal had less than 5v. The passenger side tail light wiring is exposed when the rest of the car is pulled apart installing the wiring harness. How did peoples correct this?

Mine also has that knock/sound from the rear self leveling shocks which i will need to bring up with the service department. I had read about this but hoped it would be fixed on a 2014 model.

Cheers,
Neil

Re: The Towing thread

Yeah Neil, it's white/lime and runs from the central grommet in the upper tailgate to the right, down the D pillar, behind the sub then over the right rear wheel arch. I picked it up just in the back side of this.

It has +12v on it when in reverse.

I'm sure there's a picture in my towbar wiring thread.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: The Towing thread

Had an issue with my brake controller not working after installing. I have a remote mount style brand Low Voltage. I use the same one in my previous car, a Toyota Kluger. Would work when I pushed the manual override button but would not work when using the brake pedal. Checked over everything again and was sure I was rite so got in contact with supplier. They got back to me in less than 15 minutes and had the same issue with a GC a week earlier, turns out that the way the GC pulses the power to the tail lights or frequency as they called it wasn't enough power to trigger the brake controller to do its job so solution is to add a relay and use the brake line feed as a trigger wire to the relay. Added it tonight and all is good the van now has brakes when using the brake pedal, bonus

Re: The Towing thread

I take it that it was not a tekonsha brake controller?
