Apparently the Trail Hawk is now available in Oz. 160 are available.

From Talking Jeep :

Talking Jeep Oz

And it comes with Flame Red Tow Hooks!

Shoot, flame red tow hooks ya say!?!?! I better rush out and order me one!
Yes, not my cup of tea....

But the point for us in Oz is that this style of tow hook was removed from our GC's on the basis of pedestrian safety and we have had a hell of a time sorting out a replacement hook.

And I wonder where Chrysler Australia has had these Trail Hawks hidden if they are only now being released - presumably they have held them back to maintain some sales interest pending the MY14 arriving.

Milous, didn't get recovery hooks on standard 2012 WK2 the reason provided was pedestrian safety. So home come the trailhawks being imported dont have the same restrictions?

Apart from being terribly expensive....I am led to believe one can't install two of these because the right hand side will only take in a screw in tow hook,

Are you able to enlighten us oh wise one.

There is someone on ausjeepoffroad who is hopefully going to take some pictures on the weekend of their new Trailhawk - so all will be revealed in a few days!!!!

I spotted a trailhawk at heartland Chullora today, so called in to have a look. Guess what - two great big red recovery hooks hanging off the front. I'll post some photos later.

I spoke to the parts manager, John, and and he is going to find out if they can be fitted to MY12.

There was no recover point on the rear.

Also spoke to the sales person briefly. Said she was new and just learning. Asked me if you can take the gc off road! No idea. I mentioned this to John who said there is no communication from Chrysler - he didn't know anything about the trailhawk till it turned up on the transporter.

How does point this compare to the 2011 models? Different?

The big question to Jeep Australia is very simple

Is the trail hawk a different chassis to the pig in the poke that was forced upon us in 2012 /13 models ?

If yes then Why?

Will the recovery points fit the 2013 model and if not why Not.

Why was it such an issue telling us that we had to have chassis for European models etc

I am starting to think that we get told a whole lot of lies and they what ever comes into their heads at the time

Your last sentence covers it all. I don't think they tell lies, well not knowingly. It is hard to tell lies if you have your head in the sand and don't have a clue about the products you are promoting.

I see one of our number has posted on the Jeep Facebook site. Lets see if Studgun gets a reply.

I bet they do not have the hooks and that they are just using the USA pictures.
It is not hard to put bolt'ons on a car and call it a different model. This model is just a sticker pack and will disappoint anyone who thinks it may come with the USA spec'ed recovery hooks.
The best you can expect is the shitty afterthought hooks with red paint.

Spoke to Ellie at heart land chullora and he has confirmed that recovery hooks on trailhawlk can't be fitted on standard 2012+ jgc.
Did Ellie give a reason - what is physically different? Or did he just give the easy "no" answer without really checking?

i stand corrected. Just found one on Carsales that has the red hooks.
Unusual they have the recovery hooks. May be Jeep AU heard the backlash from the '12/'13 owners. I wonder id the '14 will have them

I'd say it will be the old spec (2011 & USA) chassis design that they decided to bring back to Aus just for this model. Just to remind everyone else what they can't get anymore...

Maybe someone with a MY11 model can see that he hooks are the same...

Look what Jeep's response to Studgun's comment on their Facebbok page was concerning the recovery hook.

Jeep Australia Hi Rhys, i think it was a pedestrian safety rating issue that caused the tow hooks to be removed from the standard WKs but because the Trailhawk is a low volume model and is targeted at off road users they were include. We do apologise for any inconvenience and if you wish to discuss this further with our customer assistance team please call them on 1300 133 079.

...so that's the reason why we don't get a "Trail Rated" badge on our WK2's. They are not intended for off road!!
