Tyre & Rim Association of Aust. Standards Manual

The 2013 Tyre & Rim Association of Aust. (TRAA) Standards Manual is now out. See Tyre and Rim Association of Australia Standards Manual for tyre and rim and allied part manufacturers . I've ordered a copy. They arenít cheap but if it helps the tyres last a few thousand kms more it will have paid for itself.

I've been trying to determine the correct inflation pressures for my Bridgestone D697s. Being LT tyres, the sticker pressure doesn't apply. Everyone offers an opinion and old wives tales abound but all vary widely. I wanted something definitive so I asked Bridgestone for their load/inflation tables. They said they don't have any, they use the TRAA tables. It seems the TRAA is a boys' club of tyre manufactures for the Australia market. Among its members are Bridgestone, Dunlop, Goodyear, Continental, Michelin, Pirelli, Sumitomo and Toyo. I assume they all manufacture their Aussie tyres to the TRAA standard. The TRAA works closely with sister organisations in the States, Europe and Japan. I've been using one of TRAA 's earlier tables but have held off doing a bit of a write up until I get the 2013 manual.
