Re: uconnect update problem

Don't pay the dealer any money. Are you having issues that you need to update the UConnect software or just want to update it?

When I put in your full Vin#, I get that there is 1 software update available (15.26.1)

Re: uconnect update problem

Where does one go to check for these updates?

Do ya just store them on an SD card and stick it in the console?

Is the update for the nav or for the operating system, etc.

Sorry....so many questions.

Re: uconnect update problem

Vroooom...Answers to your questions

1. Go here and enter in your 17 digit Vin#: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/

2. You need to put it on an USB stick. This is from Willx:
- You may STILL use a 1GB stick for this update as according to the TSB likely published Oct 8 2013.
- The above cautionary note refers to 24 hours after the installation if you find there are still missing functions. This is not a verified fix with this version but past experience. UConnect Access subscribers may still experience some reboots after the install and up to 24 hours post. Again not verified but certainly with past versions.
- You must EXTRACT the file that you download. If you are running a MAC you can get free ZIP extractors on the internet. The easiest method is to extract straight to the USB. The files are compressed to save user download time.
- If your radio has at any point been replaced by your dealer you MAY wish to attempt this update during your dealer's service hours. If the Radio was not properly paired to the vehicle, during the update it may ask for an unlock code which only your dealer can provide. This will not be an issue if the radio was properly registered to the car and or was a "new or referbished" order. The only time this happens is if the radio was swapped with another "stock" vehicle as the Radios retain the VIN information.
- If the update fails at any point or is stuck for longer than 20 minutes on a single module, you can restart the installation (radio will be inoperative until the installation is restarted). All cases reported here where the initial installation failed, simply restarting the installation corrected the issues.
- If your installation will not start, first verify that you are attempting to load the correct file (file name MUST match your radio). If you have verified you are using the correct file and have extracted it as instructed (only the .iso file on the drive), try a different USB and make sure you are using the recommended size of USB drive or larger (4GB to a maximum of 32 GB is recommended)
- The instruction notes warn you of installing with the "service phone" error. IMHO this is only a problem when you are seeing this message on every start of the vehicle and at that point you need to visit the service department anyway, so you may wish to try the update prior to a scheduled visit.
- Your USB stick should be formatted FAT32
- Be patient during the Aircard update. This update may take up to 30% longer than the prior update in some cases.

3: This is only for the Operating System. To update the Nav you need to purchase the software for that ($150).

Re: uconnect update problem

thank you so much for your help.

I ran my vin and there is no update available....YAY!

I was hoping there wouldnt be, since I've only have the vehicle 2 days. LOL

I did see.... in some post.... on a different topic.... months ago....some jeepgarage member posted that a hacker-patch was available to the 8.4 and they included a link or a screenshot to an external thread in the wrangler forum for the patch author.

I have used his patch on the 430n that was in my wrangler and it worked well for for my iphone.

I wonder if he has a similar patch to help the 8.4 get along with Apple ios 9.x.

Re: uconnect update problem

The Hacker-patch isn't going to help your phone. It was to prevent people from being able to access your jeep and take control. You need to check your system on the Jeep to make sure you have the latest patch (not all Jeeps that come from factory or dealer have the latest firmware installed).

Re: uconnect update problem

Sorry for the confusion...I used the wrong term.

I did not mean the "hacker-Patch" in terms of the preventative measure to keep evil-doers from dialing into your jeep and taking command of its functions.

What I was pondering in my previous post was that I was curious if there existed a similar "patch"...authored by a non-employee developer (hacker) to allow the 8.4 to entertainment unit (430n in my wrangler...now 8.4n in the JGC) to communicate more fluidly with the iPhone 6+ running ios 9.2.

Whew...so many acronyms and numbers...lol.

Im browsing the driveuconnect.com website now.

I have run my VIN and there are no updates available from uconnect. Presumably now that I am "registered" I will get some sort of heads-up if/when future updates do come available....and I can then decide if I need it or not. (If it aint broke dont fix it).

I wasn't wanting to hijack this thread.

Re: uconnect update problem

I understand you now. I know of no patch or anything for the iPhone, same would be for android phones. The UConnect software that is available for the phone is what it is. As for you getting an email or update from UConnect on firmware update, I have never gotten one from them, I find out about it from JeepGarage and the members.

You need to download the update from the UConnect site. Make sure your putting in your VIN correctly (no spaces and all 16 digits). Here is the process on how to do it.
