UK & Aus To Skip 17MY GC ??

Hello all,

Does look more & more likely that the United Kingdom & Australia will skip the 17MY Grand Cherokee and go straight to the 18MY in my opinion.

Over here in the UK we're "only just" getting the 16MY :(

And with the 18MY just being 4-5 months away, i can't see the 17MY getting a chance

Does anyone know more ?

Thanks

I think you are right, especially the diesel. Even if you could place an order today it would be 3- 4 months for delivery. So you would wait for an MY18 wouldn't you? If we ever see the diesel again that is....

Quite a number of 2017s have been shipped/delivered to AU and New Zealand, as well as other RHD countries. Not sure why none have been built for the UK market, it's possibly they will be running some as there is still 4-5 months left for 2017 model year production.

Out of curiosity, how do dealers run in the UK? I've heard ordering to specification is more common in Europe than in the US. For example, the local dealer I'm buying my Grand Cherokee from has 75 Grand Cherokees in stock (of course I still had to order one with my desired options!). Do dealers not have much in the way of inventory on hand?

My guess is that they are getting stored until they have sold off the remaining 2015/16 stock. There are still 775 units listed as new on carsales.

Difficult decision for FCA, We don't want them to "give" them away as it would devalue our rides.

Also getting into first trimester for 17. Can they do a deal with Govt departments to offload?

Carpoint.com.au is showing April as the release date for MY17. We will see...

Mine was 2 months to get built from date of order, then a few weeks sitting at the plant, then a few weeks on a train, then a month on the boat, then a couple weeks getting through the port.

When I got my Wrangler, I was living in Michigan. It took three weeks and a day from order and delivery. According to the forum I was active on I had one of the quickest deliveries for the 2015 MY. I'm back in New Hampshire now and from what I understand the GC will take a train from Detroit to central Massachusetts where it'll run through a giant processing center that handles lots of brands before getting on a truck to come up here.

Despite growing up on the east coast, I only recently got to see a car hauling ship in person. They're so impressive- giant beasts!

Yep - my MY12 took 5 months from order. Just how it is if you are fussy on specification. I waited 12 weeks for a company Ford Futura once - red paint apparently is hard to come by in a Ford factory.

There are a few MY17 arriving in dealers. Blacktown has an SRT and a 2wd Laredo petrol. They have a black Overland arriving this Tuesday/Wednesday.

Don't get too excited. Hard to tell the difference other than the grill and shifter. Interesting that the Laredo had Bridgestone Duelers. Land vehicle Vehicle Car Center console Personal luxury car

Jeep website hasn't been updated yet.

Assume the Trailhawk will be MA?

Oh - by the way....

Those big red recovery points on the MY17 Trailhawk. They are not ADR compliant??? That's what we were told when the MY12 was released with not recovery points!

Argghghhh!!!!

Nice - what was your experience at the dealer like? Were they adequately informed about the specs?

I guess delivery around August?
