Hi Snuke
Not sure which one you have seen, this one is a well presented booklet with a light brown wood grain cover, lots of gloss and pictures and a small booklet stuck to the back page Grand Cherokee Buyers Guide, interesting read whilst waiting for the jeep to get checked over

Sorry, I thought this was posted earlier in this thread.
Current one we are aware of:

My heart sinks lower as the DP explains that he has spoken to all involved (I later gather our salesperson, shop techs, Jeep Australia, marketing re: release of vehicle info, etc) and can give me the short answer right now. Gulp...

"Jeep Australia aware of this problem and are now working on securing a flash to fix it"

Unfortunately this fantastic news was immediately qualified with the statement "as far as when it will be available, stay tuned". Overall, it's a fantastic turnaround from 1800-Stacey's statement that "it's not supported" and "there are no plans to support it".

I am sure that there could be other complaints in Australia along similar lines to mine, and don't want to appear that this outcome is my work by any stretch of the imagination. However I do think that politely pushing the point that even the salespeople didn't have the lowdown on Jeep Australia's decision to pull this feature from MY14 firmware gave the DP ability to leverage Jeep Australia's hand. After all, he doesn't want his salespeople made liars.

Keep your patience people, but keep on calling, writing, visiting, whatever. We can do it

Cheers,
Steve

PS: I'm totally aware that I may have been given a "shut up" call regarding vapourware, so I'll be following up with 1800-Stacey regarding progress routinely to make sure this isn't the case.

... so are the days of our lives.

Steve, that is not a bad result.

I tried to call Chrysler Aust today to report our VR Nav issue to Customer Care.

They put me on hold and then I got some sort of message (and I was only half listening at this point) about... actually I don't know what it was about. I was just on hold and not really listening at that point. I was waiting for a real person to pick up the phone.

But then their message grabbed me. It mentioned that 'A was for Ailesha' . It actually said that - A for Ailesha and I thought what? No... A is for Alpha you fools.

Now, I know that I haven't flown in a while (since having child) and I'm not current re: aircraft licence, but one does not forget one's phonetics. A for Aleisha ??. Are they serious?.

They hung up on me at that stage. And when I called back, Customer Care is closed for the day and please call back tomorrow.

I shall call back tomorrow and report our issue (and I think I also need to give them the correct mnemonic alphabet word.) Ailesha - seriously... so so wrong.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Will - I think Steve said he wanted to try it.

It's 10.00pm in NSW at the moment. (Eastern Seaboard). He is 2 hours behind us in Western Australia so 8.00pm his time.

I'd give him a couple of hours more and see what he thinks.

I'm sorry if we seem a bit hesitant in regards to testing but speaking for myself only, WK2 has been outstanding in every way other than this issue with VR and Nav.

For us personally, the VR/Nav issue is no biggie (well it's really giving my husband the irks but I'm fine with it and I can sort him out ) and because the vehicle in all other respects is performing as per expectations, I don't want to upset the status quo. I really love this car - it's near perfect.

I have downloaded your file however. I'm sitting on it. Thank you.

Our dealerships are less than ideal here at the moment so I hope you will understand. I think though that Steve said he may give it go though - Not sure. (?)

Cool, I have asked some other people to look into the matter as well. Edit: I should clarify the question was raised with people of higher "knowledge" than I about the hardware.

I do know they are moving to a single update platform, just not sure about the initial shipment.

Hi Snuke
This is not the brochure I was given today, so there is a new one, they were on the wall along with the fiat, alpha and Chrysler stuff the dealer has on display

the website says hands free calling, but even that makes no mention of voice.

Uconnect™ Phone(7), hands-free calling with Address Sync and Bluetooth® compatible.

I have seen nothing from Jeep Au that says VR is part of Sat Nav, unless it is part of the owners manuals.
As the Au manuals are not available to download, I haven't looked at them.
I can tell you that the AU owners manual and Uconnect supplement both say that VR is available on navigation and even give you example commands. Id prefer to input them manually, but who wants to spend another $500 to do so? Havent spoken to the dealer about it yet, but they will hear about it at the 1K service. Ill be leaving our car there, and not returning their loaner till it and the AC are fixed.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Apologies for the disappearing act. Today I had to do something to earn money.

I'm still interested in getting the jump on Jeep with this VR to Nav issue, especially as I expect it'll take forever for them to release it. That said, I am petrified of bricking this module. Definitely more fearful than my fear of getting rear-ended trying to re-join the freeway traffic from the "Jeep data entry lane" on the LHS of the freeway.

I've got the download now Will, so you can pull that down... but I was waiting on a confirmation regarding my VIN, which I have sent you. Or did I misunderstand?

Cheers,
Steve

PS: "A is for Ailesha?" W...T...F???

Quick update, we pulled the model code information for your radio and I sent it to the people who know Alpha is "a"..... waiting to hear back.

These things take some time but I am on it.

No pushing here Will. I'm all for a calculated approach. There's no doubt the Aussie units are extremely different with their cut-down hardware. That said, in my poking around the Engineering Menu I've found there are a lot of references to modules like the Sierra gear which I'm sure isn't in our equipment... meaning it's pretty likely the firmware is relatively common. But it only takes one incompatibility to bring it all down.

Regarding the "Alpha" incident... I gotta admit, I was stuck for "U" today. Is it "Uber"??? Hmmm...I guess not.

Cheers,
Steve
