The first times the vr with nav I too could say go home, but the last few times nothing.

I am going to need to confirm this but Voice Navigation does work elsewhere, I am unaware that it would be disabled in Australia. It is possible there is an issue with the software release and will be fixed in a later release?

Hi Will, thanks for your interest.

I'm going to speculate that the feature is enabled, but that the voice recognition database of our road names and suburbs is missing. Clues are that I have been able to switch to the Navigation window by VR, and it has been reported by at least two that requesting VR "Navigate Home" produces the expected result.

Actually, I'll go and check the latter right now.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

The new system uses a completely different voice recognition system and is actually using the map data. If the street exists in the map database you should be able to speak to it.

Once in the NAV screen press VR and say "Enter Destination" in your best American voice . Truth be told there seems to be some VR recognition issues in the Southern US right now so this may be a regional distortion the programmers did not deal well with.

I am interested to see if this is an enunciation issue or if there is a VR problem (certain revisions of the software I know that VR does not start properly).... Certainly by no means do I imply that anyones accent should be an issues, frankly I find Australian much more understandable than my own Scottish Cousins.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Thanks for the PDF Will, I'll be back out in the car with it after dinner.

My testing was kind of inconsistent in result. Initially, try as I might, I coudn't get the VR to switch focus to the Nav screen by saying "navigation". This has previously worked for me.

I found through the error part of trial and error that I could select DAB... not that it tuned anything here. Try it fellow Aussies, just a little dab will do ya

I rebooted the system by holding down the two rotary control's push buttons for several cycles. Obviously this still did not hard reset the system as USB playback picked up where it left off. However when "handsfree system ready" (loose quote) was displayed in green I hit VR, said "navigation", and bang... there it was. Totally choofed, I tried "navigate to home" and was rewarded with my address in the destination window and an offer to route there. I agreed and off we went! Dude I had to straighten my leg

On a roll, I tried "navigate to Perth" and was promptly shut down with the usual "not available in the country" (loose again) message.

Further attempts at rebooting could not bring about any trouser tightening. No navigation screen selection... no navigate to home... and definitely no response to cities or addresses.

I will do further testing as per your command list.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Will I wasn't getting far, but I extended the reset procedure from a few attempted reboots to around ten. When I let the system start I had lost the radio programming, but the USB drive retained the track playing... so it was a slightly harder reset, but still not the cold boot I'm looking for. Maybe it's time to pull the power?

Anyway, I had "navigation", "where am I", "navigate to home" ALL working... but couldn't "find address" or any of its similar permutations. If it did understand, I got the country error

Anyway, some progress has been made and I recommend that all interested Aussies doing testing extend their reboot procedure to several cycles and increase if not getting the three listed commands working at the least.

Many thanks again for getting involved,
Steve

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

I take it most of you are running version 13.15.4 in your radios???

The VR not starting correctly may be part of the issue and also check your country code setting in the actual NAV screen manually. If it shows Austin Texas this is also likely corrected by an update.

As I have now seen an Aussie with 13.19.0 I am wondering if this update can be applied or not?

more research required.

Will unfortunately the Aussie with 13.19.0 is not having any better success with Voice Recognition. The same country error is returned.

Kind regards,
Steve
