Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Can you guys post some videos with how this is working... Here is an example of the issues someone else I have been tracking is having. The VR does not like Regional Accents for some reason? Anyway you can watch these videos and tell me if your experience is similar.

Link: My Nav Issues

As a note, I have always said, "Enter Destiniation" and waited for it to ask me for what it wants. If I can see a video of your NAV screens to know if "Processing" is coming up in the lower left corner, this would be helpful in me understanding what it is that is different in your software.

Update: I messaged SOX again to get verification of global compatability of the 13.15.4 I have so I know if we can roll back.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Hi Will,

It's 11:30pm here, but I'll repeat whatever VR processes are in the linked video tomorrow and work out how to upload a video of it. I think Photobucket can host videos?

Anything that needs to be done, I'll do it My girlfriend and I had the mobile phone on Google Navigation today... again

Question: where does the nav unit get the information that the vehicle s moving from? Is it from the nav unit's internal GPS data stream or is it input to the nav unit from the vehicle's own electronics in the form of speed pulses, Body Control Module "mobile" signal, etc? Are there any schematics "floating about" of the connections to the U-Connect module?

Anyway, I'd assume the nav unit's "mobile" status is derived from the units GPS signal... and I plan to test this tomorrow by covering the antenna with a few layers of grounded tin foil and going for a drive

Cheers,
Steve

My biggest issues are that because your units are not UConnect access I am not positive on anything....

Just trying to learn a little more.

AllyPally!

Long time no chat mate!

Anywho, I got clearance from the big guys that the NAVs can roll back after an update so who is game? I have a specific set of requirements for the testing who wants to give her a go?

Edit: oh and to answer your question, they seem to have issues writing the recognition for American regional accents, so if you think they got any variant south of Manhattan correct you are dreaming friend!

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Here's a vid of the Nav system and VR for you Will.

My husband did it so a typical Aussie accent. My NZ accent or axcint as AllyPally so succinctly put it gives the identical result however.

Excuse the lack of map data/roads on the screen. Not many roads around where we live.

PS: Note the quiet sound of the CRD in the background. Sorry, shouldn't rub it in.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

So that's what it is meant to do mine does not show the processing bottom left, just the initial message, no sound nothing afterwards until I press again and then it says cancelled

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

AHHHHH I totally understand now.

I need someone to try loading the 13.15.4 that I have onto a system there.

File Link Deleted (updated August 27th 2013pm)

I am going to do some more serious research into this.

OK, I appear to be dragging the chain here... I had a few things to get sorted this morning and the time zone puts me way behind. Anyway, my system performs exactly as per this linked video.

I'm available to "play" now, but there's probably no point repeating the video reporting due to the identical result.

There's this file here tempting me Will... do I bang it in and give it a go?

Cheers,
Steve

Tim I'd lift the battery for a while to try a heavier reset. Maybe ask your dealer to do it if they run out of ideas.

Good luck with them,
Steve

I've been waiting for you Steve. Stop working... start Jeeping.

We have downloaded the file and associated PDF but am so unsure. I know Will really wants someone to try it and I was hoping you would be that person.

Go on - I'll send beers or your choice of poison to WA....

Edited to add and this I suppose is a question to Will.

What happens if the install fails? What are our options with regards to getting the system operational again? Back to our current point that is.
