But you do! It's a trailer connection with operational wiring. Many would give their right nut for it, coz I tell you what... you look pretty damned stoopid trying to tow a boat or caravan without one

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

So I ran out of daylight to finish my GPS antenna hack, though I did get a few layers of Glad Wrap (for paint protection) and four layers of aluminium foil (for signal degradation) onto the shark fin. After a short drive up the street and back I'm pretty sure the GPS antenna ain't in the shark fin... the GPS worked fine, as did the bloody "mobile" navigation keyboard lock

Does anyone know where Mr. GPS Antenna might live? I'm guessing it's just under the dash somewhere.

Time to dredge the forum, or do I just pull out the U-Connect unit and unplug the antenna directly? Getting the unit out didn't seem hard... in writing

Ciao,
Steve

This should be the version you are running currently.... wanted to make sure.

If this did not work it is still 13.15.4 and would not cause warranty headaches.

Yes, you will see in my full write up that the reason for this version is that it should be the global release of 13.15.4. You guys asked for a way to restore your radios back to factory and I have verified that this should be the base. The radio varifies the files prior to loading.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Sorry guys I was trying to provide a raod map to an upgrade to see if VR from the NAFTA Version will work for you but I needed to make sure that you can use the 13.15.4 I provided first. I maybe didn't make that clear.

You can roll back to 13.15.4 after you install any later version (roll back to what your Jeep came with). I wasn't going to just hand over the next versions without some sort of validation. I am 99% sure that this 13.15.4 is the exact same as what is on your radios and you guys asked specifically for a way to backup the software and I have provided this.

Sorry if I was not clear in my methodology.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Nah, it's cool Will... we're just a bit wary, because as you can see our dealers are, for the majority, a bunch of tools. If there's no likelihood that this can be detected as a different 13.15.4 I'm happy to load it as is, though if it does stuff up I'll have to go to a different dealer's Service Department as my game is now well and truly known at Osborne Park.

Cheers,
Steve

PS: Man I am in love with the thread 8.4 questions?, but I've got to ask... why do you bother investing your time???

It is the Factory install package, and no there is no way they can see the difference. They turn off certain features based on the build but just to make sure.... PM me your VIN and I will check it. I was mainly curious if reloading the same version would change something for some people the VR is not working for right now (in case 13.19.0 really doesn't work for you and you do need to roll back).... I am thinking ahead on this.

As for the PS, I dunno I got through every other post I needed to look at and bored I guess. I love conversations with people that believe a vehicle option is Black or White and no one should ever buy incar NAV ever again!!! I mean hey if one of you mates said that I would believe you had a basis to do so based on your passed experiences with NAV.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Just got back from the dealer after 1000k checkup, the vr they have referred as a technical case as the mic works for hands free phone, but doesn't when the vr is activated, they will call me to bring it back once they receive an answer, also my climate control requires an update, but that won't be available until the 4th quarter of this year, so another call for that later, at least I should have the vr up and running properly once they fix the mic problem, fingers crossed

Exclamation Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Like sands through the hourglass...

Today the DP at Osborne Park rings me back, and offers to save me a trip out there for a meeting regarding the non-functional destination input via Voice Recognition into Navigation. I brace myself to get told to p!ss off and deal with it... after all, yesterday the feature was "illegal in Australia" (thanks Michael you puppet). My heart sinks lower as the DP explains that he has spoken to all involved (I later gather our salesperson, shop techs, Jeep Australia, marketing re: release of vehicle info, etc) and can give me the short answer right now. Gulp...

"Jeep Australia aware of this problem and are now working on securing a flash to fix it"

Unfortunately this fantastic news was immediately qualified with the statement "as far as when it will be available, stay tuned". Overall, it's a fantastic turnaround from 1800-Stacey's statement that "it's not supported" and "there are no plans to support it".

I am sure that there could be other complaints in Australia along similar lines to mine, and don't want to appear that this outcome is my work by any stretch of the imagination. However I do think that politely pushing the point that even the salespeople didn't have the lowdown on Jeep Australia's decision to pull this feature from MY14 firmware gave the DP ability to leverage Jeep Australia's hand. After all, he doesn't want his salespeople made liars.

Keep your patience people, but keep on calling, writing, visiting, whatever. We can do it

Cheers,
Steve

PS: I'm totally aware that I may have been given a "shut up" call regarding vapourware, so I'll be following up with 1800-Stacey regarding progress routinely to make sure this isn't the case.

Re: West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Hi Steve
When i spoke to the dealer I was expecting a similar dismissal after your post, but he handed me the latest brochure and said it should do exactly what the brochure says, which was heartening, still will wait for the reply from the tech division
