I had CEL light on immediately after leaving dealers after 24,000km oil change/service. No other warning lights or messages. Oil pressure light did not come on.
My code scanner showed code that indicated oil pressure issue.
When I drove back to dealer prior to the fix I saw oil pressure on display was varying up when revs were going down.. this did not make any sense to me then I had engine go into limp mode and would not rev above 3000RPM. Was just after I pulled out into busy traffic
Dealer said they found and replaced faulty oil pressure sensor. (oil pressure was OK but the sensor feedbacks/controls the two/multi stage oil pump?
"uses a solenoid to drive the pump into low or high pressure mode. For example, below 3,500 rpm, the pump conserves energy by using low pressure; at speeds over 3,500 rpm, the pump switches to high pressure."
NB I was very suspect that the CEL light came on as soon as I got to normal road speed after leaving the dealers after the initial service. I'm no expert in reading the scanner codes but it 'looked' to me like there was an old code that had been reset in the log (by dealer at service time) and then same oil pressure code came on after I picked it up.
End story is 2 days after the sensor was replaced we took a 2 week 3000km road trip towing trailer and some beach 4WD'ing - all went brilliantly with no issues at all.
