Hey mate,
As much as I'd like to believe that, if it was just as strong, how come they don't offer a winch mountable bar?

I agree. I really don't think it's possible to have an thinner alloy bar that is stronger than a thicker steel one, without using expensive alloys to make it stronger

Common guys, you are just trying to make me feel better about spending 2k this bar.

While probably not as strong as steel overall also not as heavy and still better than writing off the front of the Jeep. You have to consider as well that you see a load of trucks with Alloy bars which I am sure are not just for show.

haha you are right, it's better than nothing (in terms of protection at least). It is possible trucks use alloy bars to minimize weight, so they can carry as much payload as possible.

No that's a picture of a bullbar. Wouldn't stop a roo or a wombat on the Nullabor

Not everyone wants a bullbar to stop a Roo or Wombat.
Personally, I would be quite happy if I could get a bar that will support a winch and driving lamps, and still retain all my front end functions.

Re: WK2 Bullbar spotted in Sydney

I am pleased that there will be various bullbars available later in the year, especially after the huge lack of interest from ARB.
Unfortunately August is too late and I probably will never need a winch but certainly feel happier on country roads with something between me and the next Roo

Re: WK2 Bullbar spotted in Sydney

It is worth noting that monocoque constructed vehicles (as opposed to seperate chassis) in most cases will be more structually damaged in a accident with a bullbar fitted. Yes it will protect your expensive cosmetic pieces but all that force from the impact will transfer to your rails.

Cheers
