Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

If I may add to the conspiracy...look at the tailpipes. They are not entirely open, ie. they are slightly reduced in the inside between the finisher and the actual tailpipe. My HEMI pipes are completely open through to the muffler. If my memory serves me right, the CRD pipes are slightly tapered/smaller on the inside where the finisher meets the muffler opening.

Forgive me if I'm not using the right terminology.

That is a picture of a WK2 CRD not a WK CRD. The WK CRD's were single pipes, the WK2 CRD's are dual pipes.

Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

I have mentioned this before, doing a recall on an 11 ram pickup with a 4.7l engine (flex fuel badge on the rear, and a 4.7l under the hood)... I was walking down the side of the vehicle and a hemi badge cought my eye. I would bet this is just a misbadge. I would also bet this is one of the factory employees smokin the reefer on his break, as its one thing to misbadge a vehicle with an actual option, its another to grab a badge that has yet to be installed on ANY of the hatches and tape it on.

Pretty sure this is the Jeep in question:

Says it has the Hemi vs the CRD

Ah, yup. That's the one. Guess the HEMI engine under the hood in the pics confirms it for sure. Nice find, didn't think to look at those.

I've seen similar badging/powertrain mistakes on other vehicles. At one auto show I saw a Nissan Frontier with a V6 badge on the side and a four banger under the hood. This was interesting, because in the four door 4x4 Frontiers, the 4 cyl wasn't even a factory option... it was obviously a preproduction vehicle they pressed into auto show duty.
