Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

Is there a true benefit for dual exhaust on a CRD, then single pipe? Is it just cosmetic?

Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

When the CRD arrives eventually, I guess Jeep will start labelling the tailgate with the appropriate engine badge (3.6L, 5.7L, CRD).

Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

This thread is so pathetic that I have to clear this up.... NOW.

1. The CRD has been in production for MONTHS now. Not days, not weeks, MONTHS and the badges were collecting dust for MONTHS before that.
2. This is just a simple and honest mistake. It happens all the time. Over 1000 of these roll out of JNAP each day (including Durangos), it is IMPOSSIBLE to spot every little single mistake.
3. This has nothing to do with anyone possibly going on lunch and smoking/drinking anything. I don't do either, yet I have managed to screw little things like this up before too...luckily I catch it before it goes all the way down the line but it DOES happen and even to some of the best employees in the place.
4. The CRD does have dual exhaust. How do I know? I've worked the Exhaust Hanger job.
5. With a VIN of 649579, it wasn't built TOO long ago, heck it could have possibly been built last month/week, I don't know.
6. That particular "CRD" badge has been used on Jeeps since Model Year 2005 so it is most certainly nowhere near "new".
7. The computers at our workstations and the track sheets sometimes conflict with each other so this may NOT have even been the badge installer's fault!

Back to hiatus and work....

Re: WK2 CRD sighting in U.S.

Don't they inspect these things before leaving the factory???? Wait, maybe the unions have outlawed them doing that.

Of course I should know the answer to that one based on the paint blems I had on mine...

I think they pull cars for inspection at random. I think that a lot more mistakes are caught by the dealership than the factory. And when there are CRDs and HEMIs running around the plant that could have been a easy mistake to overlook. Hell, I saw two truck haulers filled with CRD WKs weeks ago...... looked just like a normal WK2 but just with the CRD badge.

The CRD badge might have been around as you said but I stand by my statement that the CRD badge on the WK2 is new: new font.

So do you mind explaining why my 2006 Liberty CRD had the same badge and font?

I'm basing my statement on the CRD badge available online for 2005-2010 WK and the picture of the CRD badge pictured on the back of the WK2. They look different to me.
