Re: WK2 Deisel Economy

est economy I have acheived is 7.9 for a Sydney / Melbourne round trip. Did well over 1000k per tank Filled up at Crossraods just after Liverpool, Refilled about 50ks out of Melbourne on the way home. Didnt fill up again until two days after returing home.

Long term average after 16,000k is 9.6

Great info guys/girls?.... There just seems to be a never ending dispute in the US that a diesel won't pay for itself (price to upgrade)

Thanks!

Are these the same people who think they need to carry a automatic machine gun for personal protection?

Re: WK2 Deisel Economy

I do not see why it is so important for the CRD to pay for itself.
This seems to be the only thing that keeps being brought up in the arguments.

How about paying more for a better motor ?
Paying more for better resale ?
Paying more for better economy ?

One day the USA will wake up and realise that the CRD is the motor of choice and not some option that needs to provide a return on the initial investment. The car will depreciate like a stone in a pond, so the return on the CRD option is the least of anyone's worries.

Hopefully this will happen soon. It seems that some people are realising this with trucks, particularly the F-150 ecoboost

Re: WK2 Deisel Economy

Remember the more CRD's the Yanks order, the less we will get. It will delay any orders once they crank up the diesel production for their market in Q3.

I agree with you completely.

Also as of recent if we want to look at Environment, these things run much cleaner than the V8

Re: WK2 Deisel Economy

I completely agree that you shouldn't just get a diesel to save money on fuel although it is a factor.

Here's why I'm getting a diesel:
Better towing capability than V6
Better performance than V6
Longer engine life than both the V8 and V6
Better fuel economy than both the V8 and V6 (not just $$, but I hate stopping at gas stations)
I drive 25K+/year
From what I hear it sounds pretty sweet!

I'm just glad it's not a $7000 upgrade like some other diesels out there.

AND.... No Matter what anyone will tell you there is no issues with the cold climate operations. Seeing as we share a climate area I can say that.

Also on the towing capacity... The Diesel just tows better than the V8!!
