I just noticed this on the WK2Jeeps site. Sounds interesting...

2018 Jeep K8 (export only) (includes WKJeeps.com exclusive advance info)

Order banks open - June 2017
Production startup - July 2017
All-new 3-row Jeep for Asia/Pacific market

It can't be the Wagoneer because the info about that has a 2018 timeline.

2019 Jeep Wagoneer (includes WKJeeps.com exclusive advance info)

Order banks open - June 2018 (estimated)
Production startup - July 2018 (estimated)
Sales launch - September 2018 (estimated)
All-new 7-passenger luxury Jeep
"Wagoneer" and "Grand Wagoneer" trim levels

Well if I'd just read that article first, then I would say just China. But because I saw Milous' entry under 'Future Jeep Information' first and he has reported Asia/Pacific then I would bank my money on his info. I found that Feb report later.

ETA: For clarification - Milous' info has come later than the Feb report.

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
When in low range and starting manually in 1st gear by using the manual paddles. (Actually happens without selection 1st manually as well)

If i loose traction going up a hill the wheels without traction will spine but when giving it slightly more throttle to get it to grip it will go into 2nd then 3rd then almost bog down and turn off.
Happens quiet a bit now.

I can select different settings on the dial and doesnt make a difference as well.

Also when it is loosing traction and the front wheels as being gripped by the abs it is making a very loud cracking noise.

I think it is best to dial in what sounds closest to the conditions then gently apply the throttle and allow the system to do it's thing. Trying manual 4x4 techniques can confuse it. Also, after having had the engine switched off, one needs to allow time for the system to re-learn the traction requirements. For example, if on sand and switching the engine off, the system forgets it is on sand. When restarting, it assumes it is on bitumen and acts accordingly until it detects the unusual traction conditions and adjusts to the new conditions.

The "cracking" noise may be ABS rattle. Part of the traction control system is really a sophisticated use of the ABS. If it is necessary to transfer traction from a spinning wheel to a non-spinning wheel, the system will automatically apply brake pressure to the spinning wheel. When the vehicle then moves forward and the spinning wheel gains traction, brake pressure on the spinning wheel is released which may result in the ABS rattle being heard. If that's what it is, it's nothing to worry about.

Bit of a horror story.

My wife's boss bought a new Jeep for a trip across western NSW and a skirt along the Simpson Desert. New camper trailer as well. Holiday booked months in advance, much planning and excitement.

Somewhere the other side of Burke - Jeep gives up the ghost. jeep and trailer flat bedded back to Burke. A few days later an electrical problem is seen as the problem. Few days later parts arrive, Jeep fixed and on their way.

100k west of Burke - stops.

Flat bed again. Much swearing at Jeep. A few days of mechanics and parts being flown in. A week goes by stuck in Burke.

Finally fixed and on their way.

You guessed it. just outside Burke Jeep dies. more swearing. Flat bed back to Burke and a mechanic with no idea what to do next. Now nearly 3 weeks of the holiday is gone and the whole trip has gone to crap.

Flights home and the Jeep and camper are still in Burke waiting for JA to bring it back to Sydney.

JA have agreed to reimburse all costs and buy the Jeep back.

I agree Bob. I'm not referring to the cracking noise here, just the loss of power. As far as I can tell, the BLD (brake locking diff) function is separate to the ESP functions.

I had an occasion in my old jeep commander where I got bogged in really soft sand due to the ESP still being active (you had to manually disable it). I cruised into the really soft sand and as the vehicle slowed rapidly I hit the gas, but the ESP prevented the power getting to the wheels and it just stopped.

I'm thinking that somehow the ESP was related to the power loss Boxhead referred to, but that should only be possible in auto mode (not sand or mud). Not sure if it's disabled in 4lo auto?

Yep, manual is only manual up to the point of perceived abuse. That's where the abuse control Nanny steps in and says no no no. I had a Commodore SV6. Even in "manual" it would let you do one burnout but a second was impossible, not that that was an issue for me.

Sorry to hear that, we haven't had a DPF post for a while so thought it was all over.
What is your build date? as a matter of interest.

#4,473 ·
Thanks for the support. Its build day is 25/05/2014
It has 36850 km on the clock and myself as the original owner it does plenty of towing and hiway km so it came as a surprise when it went in to limp sack of p.. mode. The dealership were rude on the phone but when face to face had no choice but to be nice. I can be very blunt at times. I did remind the young lady that she wasnt driving stuck at 60km/hr in 3rd for nearly 1 1/2 hrs with no prior warning on the bruce highway. I love my car but hate the lack of respect Jeep shows it owners by its inaction.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Have you had the car serviced at a Jeep dealer, reason I ask in December 2014 they released a fix for this issue. If you haven't been to a dealer it may not have been applied yet.

Actually no i havent. I live more than 1hr away. Also the Jeep dealership is a multi car franchise who have a reputation for f ing up things. But the shop i go to do excellent work and very much care for my car. Staffed by a bunch of petrol heads. I may have to drive to Townsville and get the updates flashed.
I realy dont trust the local dealership to be honest. To the point if they cared about my car why did they only do a manual burn off and not check for flash updates and inform me of them.

I would certainly prefer your petrol head mates. Ask them if they can get a hold of whatever they need to do the update. It's surely easier for them then for us and it should pay for itself when word gets around.
