Well, I can assure you that all is not well on the land of WK2 ownership. We took delivery of our new Overland CRD in early August 2011 and as at Dec 12th it has spent a total of 17 days in the dealership attempting to solve an intermittent "non starting" issue. Currently has only 6000km on the clock. On December 12th, it went back in to have a new key recognition and starting protocol module fitted - end result completely dead Jeep. Parts required to "hopefully" get it going again, are not due in NZ until 10th Jan 2012 leaving us without a caravan tug for our planned Christmas break. I am with the help of my lawyer attempting to get my money back when I will seriously reconsider my options.
Having previously owned a new 2005 WH Limited CRD and then a 2008 WH Overland CRD, I am a reasonably committed and loyal Jeep owner. However, at this stage a V6 TD VW Touareg is starting to look like a more reliable option.
New Zealand source all their Jeep stock from Jeep Australia and is distributed here by Sime Darby, a luxury brand importer / distributor.
I have currently been given a 2003 BMW X5 3.0 petrol with 130000km as a temporary loan vehicle, and it is not rated to tow the van. It is also the thirstiest vehicle I have ever driven. Daily use around 17 - 18 lt / 100km.
My main frustration is that Chrysler / Jeep do not have a stock of vital spare parts available. 47 days off the road out of 120 days ownewership is unacceptable.
